@Aoife516Hi All, I have found a way to get rid of any unfinished projects if you have Cottage Living - If you go to the 'Isle of Volpe Park' and search for the spiral with the snail in the middle (it's to the right of the ruined castle), you can search the snail in the middle for items. Once you've searched, it allows you to leave an item of your own, an you can leave the unfinished projects which then takes them out of your inventory.
Haven't tested the reset time but I've been going once every few in-game days and it allows me to keep leaving them. Hope this helps someone who doesn't want to get rid of the pack 🙂
Edit: I have just tried leaving and coming straight back and it works! So you can offload all your unfinished projects pretty quickly 🙂
- LadyAofPineapple4 months agoSeasoned Ace@PeachTeaPanda That's a cool idea. I've also seen projects that look like balls of yarn in the "give gift" list. I'll have to test that theory and gift NPCs I don't like with my unfinished business lol.
- 4 months ago@LadyAofPineapple haha nice, did you try and did it work?

@LadyAofPineapplehaha nice, did you try and did it work?I tested it within my household first and yes, it works! Now the sim that I gifted to (shown below) does not have the knitting skill, so it doesn't show up anywhere for him except within his gifting inventory. So I'm going to gift it back to his wife and have her try a townie next.
Obviously this isn't a permanent solution (PLEASE EA/MAXIS FIX THIS SOON), because your sims might still autonomously start a project and waste their money, but if your sim has plenty of cash then I guess it's worth doing if you need to.

There's actually an easier way to remove items from a Sims inventory.
It's a cheat everyone needs to know but not a lot of people know about it.
Make sure testing cheats is on. Open up the cheat window. Type exactly this: inventory.purge
This cheats deletes everything from the Sims inventory. This includes hidden items like the knitting projects. This cheat has been a life saver for me since I discovered it. I just move everything out of my Sims inventory that I want to save, use the cheat and no more unfinished projects stuck in my inventory.

@AmbergersThat's a great solution if you have a lot of unfinished projects and not a lot of other things to move! I think it depends on if you have one or two projects, but a ton of inventory items, or if you have a lot of projects and not much else. Glad we all were able to think of three ways to rid ourselves of these! haha
EDIT: PS I think MCCC* has an option to purge or clean inventory as well, which is related to your method, I just haven't used it.
EDIT: *for those able and willing to use mods
