For anyone still having this issue, one way to get rid of all the half knitted projects is to turn on testingcheats and then use inventory.purge which deletes everything, including hidden items in the inventory. Not a solution, but it might help anyone concerned about lag and having bloated inventories.

    I play on xbox, I've been waiting for this to be fixed and after the new update today I am able to resume my projects!
