@BryonyRae for the darker cabinets problem I found out that for any size of room has now a limit of 10 source of lighting (window + light) before it starts to darken the cabinets and even the room. To try this, just build a room flat on the ground, let say 10x10. On one wall put cabinets then put windows and ceiling lights in it. When you reach the number 10 of the total of lighting sources (windows + lights) and you click on a ceiling light you'll see the cabinets get slightly darker. Continue after this and you'll see the cabinets get real dark when you click on the ceiling light. Pass 10 sources of light the ones you add don't add lighting to the room.
Temporary solution till a patch, reduce the lighting sources for the room that has cabinets in it, by enclosing them in a smaller room, (less possibility of having more than 10 sources of lighting in small areas)
To check if your house is really "repair" save it to your library and put it back on your lot. Adjust the lighting ratio till you get cabinets lighted to your liking.
I am having a curtain bug where the caress curtains from the base game look dark blue instead of the teal I picked, happens every time I go off a lot with loading screen and then back, this might be lightening related as when I try to use the design tool to change them back they seem to be teal but showing dark blue, if I replace them they stay teal until I go through a loading screen and back home then they look dark blue again.

Adding on behalf of @ju1ka:
Morse's Window Shades (from Get To Work) appear way too dark in certain rooms in certain apartments (the apartment in the image below is 121 Hakim House in Art Quarter. In case time of day plays a role, it's 10:26 AM on a Saturday in the game)
