[ARCHIVED] Reaper's Rewards: Plumbob icons for Quests no longer available

I started the Reaper event and got as far as where it indicates I should wait for the Ambrosia Newsletter. The newsletter either never arrived or disappeared, as it wasn't in my character's inventory...

Hey all!

While we're tracking issues with the Reaper's Rewards event, threads that were once dedicated to a single issue have turned into a bit of a collection of similar, but not identical issues. For clarity (and to assist the teams working on these issues), I'll be locking this thread and sharing links to 2 other threads that I've set up to capture valuable information to aid the team.

Issue 1: Reaper's Rewards: No Event at All

This thread is for those who upon reaching the main menu have no event tab, and in game have no Grim icon to click on to open the Event UI.

Issue 2: Reaper's Rewards: Grim Icon Visible But No Quests Available.

This thread is for those of you who see the Events tab (seen below) on the Main Menu and have the Grim icon in game, but do not see any quests available.

AKA "No Plumbob Icons" issue.

Additionally, the following issue reported in this thread should no longer be occurring. Please create a new thread in this forum if you run into them on the latest base game version:

Issue 3: I have a quest in my UI but the objectives are empty.

This was a knock on issue caused by specific mods and should no longer be occurring. If you are running into this issue please ensure that you have fully updated The Sims 4.

Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? I don't know the number but its the latest version as of 9/24/2024
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? I have all of the packs except for Journey to Batu
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Go into a save.
What happens when the bug occurs? I'm trying to play reapers rewards event, but the quests thing that pops up for holidays and events is not popping up so I can't do the event.
What do you expect to see? The holiday/events quest panel in the upper left corner with the quests for reapers rewards.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

Using this thread to give some pointers.

It's currently unclear what's causing this issue but there's a few theories and things you can try. Please be aware that this is NOT the issue that was fixed. It's different.

Start a new save game and see if it works there.
Be patient while loading the game. Wait a but until the GUI has fully loaded.
Don’t pause the game before and shorty after a loading screen.
Move the file Documents>Electronic Arts>The Sims 4>accountDataDB.package to the desktop (the Happy Home Login Event rewards have been moved to base game. You don’t have to fear loosing them).

The plumbobs for the reaper rewards is missing in the top left corner but I can see the rewards tab w/the reaper on it. I completed the first quest but needed to finish one more task to complete the second. I have repaired several times. I have disabled mods but nothing has worked. I have restarted the game. It reappear once when I switched households but when I went back to the original household I had started the quests with then it never came back again.

    I have tried everything outlined in these posts and have tried new saves over and over and nothing works. I cannot play this challenge at all, and it’s very aggravating that something like this is completely unusable.

I tried doing this, but it didn't help. I've had issues where the pop up for one of the quest lines disappeared before I was done and the other started over. I tried completing the one that started over, but the game didn't recognise that I had finished enough to get the last two rewards. I don't want to miss out on the lot trait, so please help me. I've turned off my mods and deleted the file that you said to, but it still isn't working.

  Note: I tried both methods listed in comments in this chain. Neither worked.

For me the white rectangle is there with the grim icon and the "help" question mark button.
So if i take my custom content off the game and delete the localthumbcachefile will all my game stay the same?
And when you say "repair your game" how does one do that?
Sorry if you've already answered, I couldn't find the same question and it's the first time that my game lags.

@EA_Cade I couldn't reply to your request for copies of the data file. i created mine into a txt file, since the post you referenced just said to upload txt file. I hope this is what you're looking for. Let me know if you need additional information. Okay the txt file wont upload, i will have to work on whats going on with my computer.

  Yeah, here I am, having the same issue. Yesterday I have repaired it (I had outdated TOOL mod), was happy to play and finally take a part in this event - it worked until I came into CAS. Then after it, event again broke itself... just having grim reaper icon, tasks gone. I have tried method with removing accountDataDB - but it was still the same. New save also gave me nada. I am so upset, don't know what to do more... my biggest wish is that EA could repair this in upcoming patch. Oh dear lord, please. 💔

Moving the file to the desktop was the piece I was missing, it fixed my game and I was stuck on week 1!
