I had had this issue in the past, then it seemed to go away. Now after today's update my sims are being mean for no clear reason. One of of them has 3 good traits from growing up and still is mean, then she gets a buff for regretting being mean. When I monitor them and try to cancel their mean interactions they queue the mean interaction again (same one) over and over again. Sometimes I can distract them but then they'll queue the mean interaction again. I've been playing the same family for generations and they are falling out with each other, fighting for no reason. My couples are about to split up because they keep being mean to each other. It's so sad. I don't think I can play like this. I made a copy of my game before the update. I hope I can turn off updates and play that version but I'm not sure if that would work. It's so sad to think I lost the ability to play my families.
Update: I checked all of my legacy sim's relationship bits (I'm focusing on one sim at the moment, she seems to be mean the most often), she has no negative sentiments. I also cheated to set all her character values to 100. But she is still randomly mean. It does seem to be a bit less often. She'll chat for longer before being mean. She always regrets being mean. I really don't understand. She was such a good kid, she earned high character values without cheats. Why would she grow up so mean? She has no mean traits.
I'm so sad. Maybe I'll have to abandon her. She won't be able to have any friends anymore. She ruins her relationships. She almost ruined her one with her boyfriend whom she had just gotten a whim to marry. I had her talk to him to get to the proposal option and she tanked their relationship. Both friendship and romantic went down so low in less than a minute. I was horrified. I do play with mods but they are mods I've had for a long time. I haven't added any new ones. I just update the mods I have. They haven't had updates since mid November.
Update: This may be resolved for me. I focused on one sim, named Sana, (this is the sim I mentioned in my previous post). At first I downloaded MC Command Center to try turning off the interactions. But I couldn't figure out how to use it. I then decided to age down my sim from young adult. I saw that her character values were all at zero except for empathy which was severely in the red. I don't know what caused this. She was kind when she was young, forever checking on her younger sister Yuna. Had to always send her away when her little sister was a baby and would cry because Sana would immediately check on her even though she was too young to tend to the needs of a baby. She always checked on the cat, cleaned up and was very friendly. As I said she earned her character value traits on her own without my trying to get them up. She didn't have enough in empathy to get that trait but it wasn't in the red. My guess is there was a glitch when she grew up. Her birthday was close to when the recent update happened.
Seeing that her empathy was severely in the red when I aged her down, I used IU cheats to set her values to what they were when I aged her up the first time and for good measure I set empathy at max green. Then I aged her up again. So far she hasn't done anything mean.
I'm so relieved. I love my legacy sims so I would hate to have any of them be glitched. It's find to be mean if that's your personality but it was totally not her personality. She would get a regret buff after being mean but would continue being mean anyway. It was heartbreaking to see her try to be friendly with people and suddenly be mean then be embarrassed and feel guilty. Sana has moved out already so I'll need to check on the other members of the family. Fingers crossed they're okay. All except for Simon (Sana's nephew) and Yuna are older than Sana with families of their own. It could be messy aging them down, I'm scared it will mess up the family ties.
