Going to lock this thread as it doesn't have the new bug template and has become a bit of a mess.
Just make a new thread if you still have this issue occurring WITHOUT MODS.
Can't be the house as I have tried using a pre-made house, same problem.

Could everyone try if solution 2 helps them solve it permanently
I am going to try solution 2 tonight and see if it fixes the sim permantely. I currently have 2 sims in the household and only 1 sim is affected by this bug
These solutions don't work for me at all. I can't get the sim to "return home". I can still play her but can't check any of her stats. Incredibly frustrating! Free money cheat because "leave work early" pays me each time, but I already used motherlode, so I don't need money. Just want to play my sim!
my sim came home from school and couldn't control her message saying can not control sim while at school :/ my sim was home alrady that time home 6:15pm sim time
i had same problem with my daughter sim on a sunday i had saved game yesterday after placing the gnomes on lot. when i loaded game she was greyed out with the house icon and my choices were skill take care of self garden or sociaize i tried to travel to another lot she was still greyed. i did resetsim it said no sim found.
i moved family out of house to another lot and she was there.
Moving to another lot has not helped in my case, all three sims remain "at work" no matter what I do with them. I moved them in and out of 3 different houses and an empty lot T_T
When I select "leave work early" I get paid for that day of work.. and the icon remains greyed out. I can select "leave work early" over and over and get paid each time.
I just want to access my sims invientory!
