I have done some more testing. I now believe that there may be two separate issues occurring here, and one of them affects vampires only.
Issue 1: Pre-existing spellcasters and vampires created before the update do not retain occult eyes saved in CAS.
Solution: De-age sims to toddlers in CAS, hit "Play" to exit CAS, return to CAS and age sim back up, set their eyes to your desired swatch, then hit "Play" again. This seems to be 100% effective for the spellcasters I have tested this on, however Vampires still have to contend with Issue 2.
Issue 2 (Vampires only): Vampires created both before and after the update will have their occult eyes and (possibly, but not always) other vampiric features removed when age or gender settings are altered in CAS. Age and sex/gender change might not be the only triggers, need to test more things.
New vampires or vampires cured from Issue 1 by de-aging as described will still experience Issue 2 no matter what. It cannot be remedied without a patch, the best you can do is be very careful with the sync button and make sure to redo your occult eyes and vampiric features every time you enter CAS and only use Live mode for aging up vampire sims. Final changes made before exiting CAS will be retained on your sim, but it is very easy to for your occult features to get erased and require reapplication during normal CAS use. Here are some different scenarios of what happens when changing vampires' age in CAS:
- Changing age or gender with dark form selected and link enabled: Both forms retain occult features of dark form. If normal form had different occult features from dark form, they are replaced and synced with dark form.
- Changing age or gender with dark form selected and link disabled: normal form only loses vampiric features.
- Changing age or gender with normal form selected and link enabled: both forms lose vampiric features as dark form syncs with normal form's loss of features.
- Changing age or gender with normal form selected and link disabled: only normal form loses vampiric features.
I have been running these tests without my mods, but I added my mods back in to do different tests and discovered something interesting- one of several non-default cc eye sets I have that are enabled for occults only is completely immune to this issue on all occult types. Sims using these eyes never, ever have them overwritten no matter what. I am going to go through all the different attributes of the package for this eye set in S4S and compare it to my other eye sets that are getting overwritten by this bug to see if maybe it can help me track down the root cause of what's affecting the stuff in the base game.
Great timing for EA to break supernatural sims before a supernatural update. 🙂
- Hawksdaughter4 months agoRising Hotshot@FlyingRatDog I've got an eye mod/cc that I sometimes use for occults, but it's in the makeup category, I was able to use it on my test sim and it stayed in place properly, when the occult eye color in eyes category won't. The one from makeup mimics close enough to the same game color I was using, so I'll take it. So in your researching, look for any that might be tagged that way. I've had it for a long time, don't remember the name or where I got it, but in CAS it's listed as N129 Praline if any want to do a google search. I'm beat, from fooling around with this for the past 3 hours, looking for a solution. Hope this of at least a little help.

I hope this doesn't get taken down, I did find the cc I am using that is from the makeup category. Deamon Eyes N129 by Praline.

@FlyingRatDogTried it on my alien Decendant spellcaster and it works got his alien eyes back, the downside is lots of aspirations traits is lost during the reset from toddler to teen so need mention need use Traits cheats to restore any lost reward traits lost during the reset due can't reset the aspirations.
- Hawksdaughter4 months agoRising Hotshot@phamser I'm glad you got it and that it's working for you!

Well done, I tried using your described method for spellcasters and it worked. Only thing is I can’t use it because it destroys all traits I’ve worked so long for for my supersim family. ☹️
But yeah, if there are ppl in this thread that is OK with equipping traits back with cheats go for this one!

This is happening to me as well and I have a lot of spellcasters with occult eyes. Ones I've had for years. I have a spellcaster with vampire skin details that I will have to check out too. This is a total mess. I have some vampires with skin details and the one I was playing earlier had both issues.

@Smulirulyeah plus when aging my vampires back up to teen I still have to redo more stuff than just the eyes and vampire features. I have to redo their outfits, makeup, tattoos, body features such as body scars, hair style, and their facial structure ends up being slightly different. My sims facial structure has a lot of adjustments to look more fantasy elf like so it is very difficult to impossible to recreate it exactly without being able to copy and paste their look from a copy of the original. Awkwardly though, my vampire retained all his fame quirks from being a young adult so when I loaded him as a toddler he had an angry moodlet because he needed juice. He also retained all of his vampire perks for some reason so I didn't have to redo that either.
Also the stats of things like deaths and fires witnessed gets reset to 0 which I don't want to reset.
- 4 months ago@FlyingRatDog Thank you, the solution to issue 1 works perfectly for me.

Solution 1 only works temporarily. As soon as you get out of the household whether it is for another household or exiting the game, the vampire features disappear again and you end up having to do the process all over again.
- simmysimsin4 months agoSeasoned Vanguard@NataliaPodjacka Yes I just noticed that solution 1 only works temporarily for me as well. It only reset for me when I switched households though. I didn't realize his face got reset until after I saved my game while playing the other household unfortunately. It's very hard to enjoy the game right now because I have to force myself to not get attached to any sims at all. It seems to be a good time to create mass grave yards in the sims 4 with the life and death dlc until this bug is fixed.

@FlyingRatDogThis worked for me. I went into cas via edit household. Made them into a toddler like you said. Clicked play then went back in and put my sims back to their former glory and it work! I kept all my traits and everything! Thank youuu
I'm on console btw and this worked 👌🏻
