I found a workaround for those who have the MC Command Center (MCCC) mod. Click on a sim and pick MCCC, then go to MC CAS, then copy/paste, scroll to the bottom option paste tray sim, then "only my sims", then find the one that matches. Hopefully you had a recent version of your sim already saved, but for me this option worked. Hopefully it works for you guys, too!

UPDATE: If you're using this workaround, I found out just now that you gotta reapply it every time you restart the game, if not after every save reload. Just FYI.
