I found the solution (for me at least). I was using the Steam overlay through adding a non-Steam game option. This apparently caused the problem for me, as when I run it through Origin without the Steam Overlay, I don't have the alt tabbing issue, and it performs as expected.
If this is the issue, DON'T WRITE THIS OFF AS VALVE'S FAULT EA! The Steam Overlay works for literally every game I've tried (even other Origin games) without issue, this is NOT their fault.
I hope this helps someone, good luck figuring it out if it doesn't solve it for you.

For the people who still have this problem, try to play the game in windowed mode (Alt+Enter)

The reason im here in 2017 is because it's been happening to me in Fullscreen, Windowed, and Windowed Fullscreen. I can't seem to fix it.
