For some reason, I keep getting an error when I try to view your pics, so I am not sure what your layout is. I am willing to test the lot to see if I can find anything that might help you if you are willing to upload it to the Gallery. If you are, just reply here when you've got the lot uploaded with the lot name and your user ID if different than what you use here (tiialeppanen).
Hope this helps.

Ok, I downloaded the lot and tested. You're right. The front door setting on an interior door does not stick when there is another exit from the apartment that leads to the outside and there is a shared space intervening between the building front door and the apartment front door(s). So, imo, that's the problem. The setting on the apartment front door should stick once set as such.
Everything works ok if the apartment door leading to the outside leads to a fully enclosed space like you have on the 2nd floor apartment patios. But the stairs to the backyard from the 1st floor patios cause those patios to not be fully enclosed and game thinks those should be the apartment front doors since they open directly to the outside. Removing the stairs and making the patio enclosed like on the 2nd floor apartments makes the game think the patio is just a room like any other room inside the apartment and the actual front door to the apartment is the front door to the apartment.I think the main issue is caused by the actual front door to the building which has no option to be set as a front door since it leads into shared space. That does make sense since all the tenants and visitors need to pass through that space to get to the actual front doors of the apartments. But with that door in place, the game drops the settings on the actual apartment doors inside on loading the lot, either when you load the lot the first time or return from travel. I did find that if you replace that door with an arch, the apartment front doors will hold their front door setting when you return from travel.
So, to get your building to work like you want so the apartment front doors hold the front door setting, you have 2 choices for a workaround.
1 - Delete the stairs from the 1st floor apartment patios to the backyard and extend the fence to cover the opening or2 - Change the building front entrance door to an arch or delete it and the wall there altogether. Since you used the C&D windows there that have no glass anyway, you've made that shared space a breezeway so replacing the door with an arch will fit with that. Here's what I came up with.
While I realize that doesn't fix the underlying issue you have, it should let you play the building like you intended. The issue with the doors not holding the front door setting on lot loading in this arrangement will need to be addressed by the devs.Hope this helps.

I figured out the same reasons for the problem, and changed the door as in your picture already.
I think this is something for the developers to figure out in the future, as some actual apartment buildings can have this layout. (this is a sample of my mom's apartment building :D)
