[ARCHIVED] Athletic category filter applied to Infant

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.111.102.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All packs and kits, except Goth Galore
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Go into CAS while the active sim is wearing Athletic clothes; i.e. Change Sim from a mirror or use the preferences panel.
What happens when the bug occurs? The Athletic category filter is applied to all Infant sim outfits even though infants do not have an Athletic category.
What do you expect to see? Infants should not have any Athletic outfit filter options.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

My test household consists of one YA, one child and one infant.  When I entered CAS using the mirror or using the preferences panel, and the active sim was the YA or child sim wearing Athletic clothes, the Infant got the Athletic filter on all outfits.

When I changed the YA and child sims to Everyday outfits, then went to CAS, the Athletic filter was not applied.

When I selected the Infant as the active sim and clicked on a mirror then chose Plan Outfits, the Athletic filter was not applied; even if the YA or child sim were wearing Athletic clothes.

EDIT: I also tested this on PS4 / PS5 and had the same issue.  The main difference is that on PS4 / PS5, I was not able to remove the Athletic filter using the controller.  Since Infants do not have an Athletic outfit category, I was not able to remove the filter.  As a workaround, I was able to remove the filter using a USB mouse on the system.

  • This has been happening for a few months now, maybe since lovestruck? or right before that update, I'm not sure. But whenever I go into CAS with my infants, everything is tagged with the athletic category in the filters. The only fix I have right now is to untag it but there are some sections where outfit categories aren't a filter option. So there are some sections that I literally don't have access to. I play on ps4, so I know it's not a mod issue. I would very much like this fixed so I can dress my babies without frustration ToT

  • The athletic category is  tagged in every outfit category for every item category. And for clarification from my previous post, my "fix" right now is to tag it with the everyday category, since infants don't have an athletic outfit i can't remove the tag, and in categories like the leggings I'm not able to choose an outfit category so I don't have access to those items. And this is happening in all 3 of my recent saves so I'm assuming it's every save file.

@MichaelMellDaGrl   Hello!  That's really annoying!  I checked on my PS4 and did not see that issue at first.  I asked some friends about this and one of them said that this has happened for her when she went into CAS while one of the sims was wearing Athletic clothes.  I directed my mom sim to change into her Athletic outfit and then used Change Sim on a mirror.  The Athletic filter showed for the infant at that point.  I exited CAS, had the mom change into Everyday and used Change Sim again.  This time the Athletic filter did not appear for the infant.

So, double check the other household sims to see if any are wearing Athletic clothes and have them change into Everyday before going into CAS.  Please come back and update if that helps because I think this is a bug.

By the way, I also use a mouse and keyboard with my game at times.  I was able to clear the filter using my mouse.  So, you might try that as a workaround also if you have a plug and play mouse that you can plug into the USB port on the back of the system.

EDIT:  I just noticed that if the Infant sim is the active sim when going into CAS, the filter is not applied.  So perhaps you could also try selecting the Infant first, then click on a mirror and choose Plan Outifts.

  • Interesting, I definitely need to try this out next time I'm playing! Though I'm not sure about going into CAS while playing  as the infant cause I think I did that yesterday when I posted. But I could be wrong I don't remember haha.

Will definitely update if this resolves the issue 🙂
