Auto-Windows(by room) ignores window size changes on vertical walls.

I'm running the basegame with every single EP, GP, SP & kit(other than batuu) . Latest version, only mod is MCCC and the issue appears without any mods installed.

I noticed that when placing a window on a diagonal wall it will automatically become wider. When using the auto room tool for windows this effect doesn't happen. They appear vertically as if they were on a straight wall.

I attached a screenshot which should make the issue a bit clearer  on the left is the regular diagonal window and on the right is the auto-room tool one.

  • @somberlysober Hello! I have to admit, I had never used the 'by room' option to place windows (or at all), so this was a learning test for me! I have noticed in the past that windows, pics, etc. did have some quirky stuff on diagonal walls (which also present as a wider wall panel, see screenshot).

I just placed windows on this 'test home'. You will see on the right (square) room that the wall panels appear more narrow, and I placed the window normally there. On middle room (diagonal) I placed the window normally, and on the left room I placed the window(s) 'by room' (so the game auto-placed them for me). Interestingly, to me all three areas appear to have a window about the same size, even though technically the ones on the diagonal wall are only covering one wall panel, and the one on the square room is actually covering two wall panels.

Anyway... I was not able to reproduce the different width dynamic you mentioned. Can you please clarify what I did differently so I can reproduce the issue?

  • Did you give it a shot with the "Paulownia Panes" windows? It MIGHT be specific to that type I honestly haven't  tried it with any other windows.

-Update I tried it and the bug doesn't work with "The upright window".

If you want to try it I uploaded the lot to the gallery I believe. It's "14 Shy Something Lane". Originally it was placed on the lot to the right of the Raffia Quinta named basegame lot in Oasis Springs.

@somberlysober Thank you for the updated information! Yes, you are correct... when I do the same process with 'Paulownia Panes' windows I get the following results - not only the size differences but it pushed the one over on the 'by room' placement so it's not centered:

And when I try 'Wide Stall Window'. it had the sizing difference but it did center the window on the 'by room' section (and it definitely elongated on the window placed manually on the diagonal wall):

Thank you for sharing your lot also! It seems that, from our experiments, there are several inconsistencies in the way that windows on diagonal walls manually placed and when placing 'by room' are behaving.
