[BY DESIGN] Pregnancy bump "pops" instead of growing smoothly

Issue

Sims pregnancy bumps no longer grow smoothly and instead "pop" from one size to another at the end of each trimester, similarly to pregnancy in The Sims 2. Sims also immediately jump from having a flat stomach to having a pregnancy bump immediately after taking a pregnancy test. They do not react to this at all and I'm convinced that this did not happen when I first started playing the game upon release, as I recall pregnancy bumps growing smoothly at one point (like they do in The Sims 3).

Steps you took for Issue to occur

No particular steps taken as the issue has been ongoing for a long time now.

Picture

No picture but I uploaded a video to YouTube last year which shows the "pop" occurring. Click here to view.

Where does the bug occur ?

Universal issue in existing saves and new ones.

Mods/CC

I use mods and CC, but the issue occurred before I installed them and remains even after a clean install.

Expansion Packs/Game Packs/Stuff Packs

All expansions -- Vampires, Dine Out, Spa Day, Outdoor Retreat -- Backyard, Kids Room, Cool Kitchen, Perfect Patio, Luxury Party

Occurring since

Unsure of specific date, but I first tried to make a post about it over a year ago so at least since then.

Operating system

Windows 10 64-bit

  • Hello,

I've been told that this is by design and has been this way since Sims 4 released.

I'm going to add this although I'm at this point unsure how it's supposed to be

@SimQARobo so it is definitely intended for there to be absolutely NO gradual bump growth at all throughout the entirety of the pregnancy?

I'm a little lost since I've heard from other players that they do at least see SOME gradual growth between trimesters, excluding the sudden pop that happens after taking a pregnancy test. In my case there is none whatsoever. Just a sudden growth "jump" when the trimester moodlet switches over - similarly to Sims 2, but without any reaction from the Sim.

Could you confirm that this is definitely by design?

    @pureedboot

The team said that this is by design, yes.  However, skinnier Sims may experience a more dramatic pop due to how the system works.  Is your Sim skinnier than average?
