Just adding a note to say this fix worked for me. In my case the unusuable fridge/stove interaction glitch didn't show up right after the update. It happened later. I had performed the update and heard about the lot type glitch others were experiencing. I didn't notice that being an issue for me but decided to do the repair game check pre-emptively just in case. Then over the course of several game sessions I went through all my save games one by one and checked every lot in every save to make sure they were correct. They were all correct and the only glitch that I saw was the away actions being unavailable if you are not home and another Sim returns home from work off screen. The very last save game I checked was my legacy family and of course THAT's when the fridge glitch showed up for me in addition to the shower constantly running. Go figure.
Anyway, I cleared the cahce files and did repair game and now my Sims can eat and the shower only runs when a Sim is using it. Whew! Legacy saved!
