Can't save new custom skin tones

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.93.146.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All except Journey to Batuu
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Go to CAS and try to save a new custom skin tone
What happens when the bug occurs? Custom skin tone cannot be saved, shows error tooltip: "You have reached the maximum number of custom colors saved for this category. You can delete some color options to make room for new ones."
What do you expect to see? Saved custom skin tone appears as new swatch
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

Ran into a strange bug today that I haven't noticed before. I started a new save earlier this month, created a household, then downloaded a lot of Sims from the gallery to use as NPCs. I wanted to start a new household in CAS, but when I tried to make a custom skintone, I was unable to save it. Instead, there was an error tooltip that said: "You have reached the maximum number of custom colors saved for this category. You can delete some color options to make room for new ones." I deleted several swatches, but was still unable to save a new skintone. Even deleting all the gallery Sims I downloaded didn't help. Neither did turning off mods and CC.

Has anyone else had this issue?

  • @crinrict Yes, I have. Unfortunately, I'm still having the same issue. I did find a workaround, though: saving and exiting CAS when trying to make a new custom skin tone will still apply it to the Sim, even if I can't manually save the swatch by clicking the plus button.

@ConsoleCake When you start a new save for testing purposes you should not have any custom skin tone saved as they don't transfer from save to save.

So, if you do that, can you save it there ? (This is just to find out if it has to do with you maxing the amount or a general problem in your game)
