[CoL] Finchwick Fair never winning contests (Patch 1.82.99)

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.82.99.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansions; All game packs; All stuff packs; Blooming Rooms & Courtyard Oasis kits.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Submit any entry to Finchwick Fair, especially animals.
What happens when the bug occurs? No matter what quality my submissions are (be they fully maxed out animals or highest possibly quality oversize food etc), and being the best of all submissions at the time of the fair ending, my sims' submission/s never place first. Typically, they will receive either a participation award or place 3rd -- how can I place 3rd or worse when there are only 2 submissions?!
What do you expect to see? To have a more accurate/fair chance at winning fair contests and to no place below the number of total entries (ie: to not place 3rd/participation when there are only 2 entries).
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

I have experienced this issue since Cottage Living was released, regardless of if I have any mods running or not (literally the first thing I troubleshoot).

I have won this many times, but it seems like some competitions are harder than others to win. You can try bribing the judge, but here are some combinations that seem to work more than others. If you know who the mayor is, become best friends with them BEFORE the Fair. Ideally, arrive at the Finchwick Fair as soon as it starts and place your entry. I suggest doing only 1 entry at a time if you want the aspiration completed. Try not to interact with the Mayor unless you're bribing them. If they don't go around and judge your entry, then you might not get anything. Stay the whole time until after the fair disappears and it gives you the reward close to midnight.

    1. Oversized crop competition: Any large crop as long as it's in perfect condition. I've even won with medium and small ones that are perfect quality, but I would choose the largest one you have.

    2. Chicken Fair: Evil Chicken, but it has to be a rooster, not a hen. You can sometimes win with a golden rooster, but evil one has a pop up when it ages up that says it's the best for the fair. Maxing your relationship with it won't hurt and make sure to keep the coop clean and the rooster fed so it's a young adult and very happy.

    3. Egg Competition: Obsidian or Golden egg in Excellent condition. This one is hard because eggs spoil, but if you put it in your household inventory, that completely stops the timer on it.

    4. Wool Competition: Excellent rainbow wool. This may vary though. I've had it not win.

    5. Garden Competition: Perfect quality death flower.

    6. Pie Competition: Cannot get anything to win no matter what even with a cow plant essence pie. Bribe the judge and have good charisma, mischief and debate maybe? Be in a very confident mood.

    7. Llama competition: Very happy, young adult llama with max relationship to the sim submitting the competition. Feeding it a rainbow treat might help. This one is a toss up and doesn't always work.

    8. Cow competition: Very happy, young adult cow with max relationship to the sim submitting the competition. Feeding it a rainbow treat might help. This one is also a toss up.

    9. Milk: I'm guessing excellent rainbow milk, but I haven't tried this yet.

The steps provided are not guaranteed to achieve 1st Place. I just entered a 47kg perfect quality oversized watermelon into the crops competition, against a normal quality small watermelon and an excellent quality oversized lettuce. Before the end of the competition, both the competitors had spoiled (there was a teen hanging around them pouring something on them but I have no idea what it was). I diverted the teen away from my watermelon successfully, and STILL PLACED 2ND. I really don't understand how they're being ranked and judged. Did not interact with the mayor once, mayor judged my watermelon and had heart emoji. I only play with UI Cheats Extension and MCCC installed to manage bugs or alter pregnancy length for long lifespan. This bug has been around for years.

  • I have this problem too. The only time I managed to win was when my sim bribed the judge.

Maybe the reputation of the sim helps too? I'm having the opposite problem. My Global superstar sim is best friends with the judge, but actually has a really bad reputation. I get too many first prize wins with oversized crops as long as it's perfect quality. I'm trying to get the other ribbons for the collection. I don't think this is really a bug, it's more of a tuning issue. It seems to be random and not always the best one wins. That's why there's an option to bribe the judge.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I want to win without bribing the judge! Plus the one time I tried she didn't go for it haha
