Had trouble finding out myself, had something similar.
I have some Mounded In- Ground gardening patches.
Bought the Oversized Crop Seeds directly from clicking on one of them, and with those Seeds in my inventory, I chose Plant Oversized Crops option while clicking the Gardening Patches. That worked for me.
