[CoL] Where are the rabbits?

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.83.24.1230
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Cottage living, cats & dogs, city living, dine out, tiny living stuff
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Unknown
What happens when the bug occurs? I have a rabbit home and used to have lots of rabbits. Now there are no new rabbits on my lot. I still have the option to try to lure them out, but nothing happens. At night there are zzz's floating above the rabbit home.
What do you expect to see? I should have rabbits on my lot.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

I started out just seeing a few rabbits after I added a rabbit home to my lot. I befriended a couple of them. Soon I had tons (like 20) rabbits hopping around my lot. Then soon after they all disappeared except the ones I befriended. I think since those rabbits have died there have not been any rabbits on my lot at all.

@shaunaks OK, so at least the haven't gone invisible.

The ones you befriended are also still there, right ?

  • No, the ones I befriended are also gone. I know one of them grew old and died, but I think another just disappeared.

    Thanks!

  • @shaunaks I am fairly new to the game, so I don't know the precise answer, but I don't have issues with bunnies. When I was able to add the bunny homes (using the cheat), I added A LOT. I thought that maybe the more homes I had, the more bunnies I would have? Since I have so many bunnies, maybe that's the case. I wasn't sure what the saturation level was for the rabbit homes, like was it one per bunny or couple or what? So, that's one thing I did. I did add the bunnies from debug using the bb dot showhiddenobjects and bb dot showliveeditobjects, but these bunnies quickly dried up before I had the homes. Once I learned the bb dot ignoregameplayunlocksentitlement cheat, I was able to add my homes. I stuck them everywhere between hydrangeas, delphiniums, near the porch, everything. So, at any given point, even with dense foliage in my yard, you can see multiple bunnies at a time, and they are always running along the walk or sitting there waiting for something. I don't ask them to help with gardening, but I do have a couple of homes inside my garden area. (ICYDK, there's also a bot for gardening in the hidden/liveedit build section. I have noticed that they seem to be vulnerable during weather and they will break down into a pile of trash after a period of time, even if you have them stockpiled, but they are FREE!) I happen to be a crazy bunny lady, so I just wanted them around my house and in my Secret Garden. However, I did notice for the first time that a bunny climbed up on the porch. I was surprised but ignored it and wondered if it would come in the house. Later, I saw a different bunny scampering through my foyer on the way to the living room! I haven't been able to locate the bunny because that was about the time the baby started crying, and I had to go check on her. I regret not checking to see where it went. I don't know if they automatically disappear or not since I couldn't find it. I haven't checked to see if it's hanging out at the cat food bowl, though.... ;-) I also wasn't sure if it had anything to do with my cat talking to the bunnies. KatyCat would walk outside and meow at the bunny. The bunny would have a thought cloud of KatyCat. And then you saw the a + on the friendship. So, I think KatyCat was befriending the bunnies. She is small and a sweet cat. Sometimes she would go to the tree stump and meow to see if they would come out. Other times, she just talked to them when she saw them on the sidewalk or around the pool. I mention this since there may be some influence on her part. But I do think the ratio of tree stumps makes a HUGE difference in the quantity of bunnies. I put a lot of tree stumps in my other lot's Secret Garden, and within minutes, I had bunnies everywhere. Now you can easily count 20 in one screenshot. I just try to tuck them in places where they aren't in the middle of everything. BTW, my people sims have not befriended any bunnies, and we still have no problem. I got a bit gun-shy because every time she tried to befriend a bunny, soonafter it bit the dust. I didn't want to be responsible for more bunnies dying. They get a free home. 🙂
  • I noticed this too. I've played with cottage living a lot, and always before after placing a stump there would be noticeable rabbits around the lot after, but now there are still only rabbits at the other stumps out in the world. Strangely, there are also none IN the stump, as the option to try and lure them out is always greyed out saying there aren't any rabbits in it. Just to check, I turned on cheats and used the "create rabbit in home" debug, and it STILL said there were no rabbits in there, so I definitely think there's some kind of bug preventing rabbits from spawning from the home stump. I also tried buying a whole new stump, and it was the same thing. Haven't tested on other lots or saves yet. I wasn't having this problem even recently, but that household was placed in a different neighborhood. The one I'm playing right now is in the bramblewood part of henford, which I've never had this problem at before, but idk, could be a factor I guess.
