If Sim has already reached level five of the Tech Guru career when they come to the final milestone of the Computer Whiz aspiration, they don't get credit for the career level and cannot complete the aspiration. This has happened to me with two different Sims on different save files.
I'm on Mac OS X (Yosemite), all expansions and packs, no mods or CC.

I just found another thread that also mentions this issue (I searched before originally posting but didn't see it until now); you might want to merge.
The other was initially about the renaissance aspiration. I like to keep the aspirations separate 🙂
I'll just copy here what I learned from that other thread then. The workaround of quitting the Tech Guru job at level six and restarting at level five worked for me to complete the Computer Whiz aspiration. It's obviously still a bug though.
This is an issue with all aspirations. I had a Sim with the mixology aspiration move into a premade house with barstools and the Sim didn't get the aspiration points. I had to buy two new barstools for the points to count. I also had this happen in the athletic career. My Sim did not get points because there was already gym equipment in the premade house I put him in. To get it to trigger, I had to move the Sim out and back into the house.
As said above, different aspiration, different issue.
I don't think it's necessarily a bug that existing stuff doesn't count but as said, please make a thread per aspiration issue.
