I've had an issue with this several times. Whenever I am done with a gig you get the popup that asks if you want to show the renovations to the client, if you select "No" i.e. you don't bother and just want to travel home instead there is no option to travel home. You can't click the home icon on your sim since it still thinks you are at work.
The only way I can get my dream home decorator home is by selecting another sim in my household who is at another lot, and then bring the decorator to that lot.
This is a tedious work around and I wish you would just be able to travel home after finishing a gig for a client.
