I was having this issue as well; here was my solution:
+++ Press (i) while playing to toggle the inventory of a specific sim [use the sim who was using the pad last before it disappeared]
unfortunately this will happen every time you make art on it, so unless there’s an update you’ll have to get used to taking it out of their inventory; and if you purchased more than one each one should be in a specific inventory
