I realize this is a rather old thread but has anyone found a solution for this? I'm having the problem now. Wouldn't be so bad except the stack I am trying to use to graft comes from another season. Once the stack is consumed I'm unable to get more till next year so it's quite *.

I am having the same problem! It is very annoying and time consuming to wait between seasons several times. The only temporary solution I have found is to let different sims save one graft each of the desired plant.
I really hope they fix this...but if you consider how old this thread is, chances are probably slim.
