i'm trying to make a split-level basement where it's kinda "open" to the bottom floor. i watched a few videos and thought i was doing everything right but when i remove the floor and ceilings there's this strange black concrete? on the top of my bottom layer. When I go into live mode, my sims can walk through it and still go down the stairs to the bottom level normally. But how do I remove this as it's pretty ugly lol

@plsnt_nightmares Can I please clarify... do you mean the dark grey flooring at the bottom of the visible staircase in the screenshot? That appears to be the default concrete that is added as flooring when you create a room. It appears from the image that you are using this particular floor as a 'landing' of sorts for your staircase, and that you deleted the flooring in the other side of the room to create an open/bi-level look/dynamic for the area before going down to the next floor? If this is the case, please try adding a lighter or different flooring instead of the cement one that is a color that you prefer. If I'm not understanding this correctly please clarify further. Thank you!

No, I mean the other area where it is dark on top of the entire bottom floor. I tried merging the walls over one another to see if that was the issue but it is still there. I'll show more screenshots to show what I'm talking about.
The black area is supposed to be "open" to see the stairs and room below but despite deleting the bottom level's ceiling and the top level's floor, there is still this odd black stuff here.

Can you please try moving the back wall so it lines up under the top one, re-trace the area you are creating the opening for, delete it's floor with the sledgehammer, re-add the stairs and fencing. If that does not work are you willing to share your build to the gallery under the name 'basement test' or something and provide me with a link so I could test it in my game?

@plsnt_nightmares Thank you for sharing your build. I tested in many ways, plus on another lot on a fresh build, and I also could not get rid of the basement dirt wall/floor visual when part of the floor/ceiling is removed to make an opening between the basement floors. I have used this technique many times above ground, but I am wondering if it simply does not work correctly underground? I have discussed this with a fellow helper who also builds a lot. He was heading to bed, but when he wakes he has agreed to have a look at the issue. Hopefully he will have different findings and better news than me.
You said you used instructions for creating the opening... was that person's opening above ground or below ground?

it was below ground (this video was what I mostly used: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1p6HUQzhWJM) i've seen other screenshots of split level basements, or giant holes in the ground, so i figured this was possible. here are a few others i've found that seemed to have similar issues during their projects... but their solutions did not work for me ☹️

@plsnt_nightmares I have just heard from a fellow helper that this appears to be a bug/glitch. Please see this bug report, and most specifically the information/description from Hyperion_Rail.
I am currently asking if this post can/should just be merged on to that bug report, or if you should add your information to it yourself. If it's merged my shared experience/test will move into the post. Otherwise we can both 'me too' and add our information to the bug report, as this helps EA to figure out what conditions may be creating the issue - and to see that many folks are having the issue, which can increase priority. https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-Basement-Split-Level-Rooms-Irremovable-Basement-Flooring/m-p/7956203#M92057

Hello! I recently discovered that when building basements, you can no longer look from the first sub-level down to the second one like you used to. So, what used to look down onto the second level is blocked with this un-removable dirt. How do I fix this? It's not flooring or anything like that, so I'm at a loss for how to remove this. Thanks in advance for any help!

@Gryffindor713 It looks to me like your issue is the same as this bug reporthttps://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-Basement-Split-Level-Rooms-Irremovable-Basement-Flooring/m-p/7970140#M94078, and will look into getting your post merged with that report. You will see when you read the report and comments, some variations on the issue. Please 'me too' the report also, as this and details about your issue that may confirm or add to the information already on the report can be helpful to EA when they are troubleshooting the issue. Thanks!
