[FIXED] Can't switch between Sims/Game Freezes

Have you attempted a game repair? (If not, I recommend backing up your saves first, and then repairing the game). Have you cleared any of the caches?

Hi! I'm SimmerStar4 (they/them). I'm not an expert on game issues, so don't take me as one! I'm just a Sims player who wants to try and help fellow players, and who finds game bugs and issues interesting.

How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)

What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? discover university, island living, city living
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? when you open the game you cannot switch between sims, travel, and saving the game takes so long that I have to force shut down my computer.
What happens when the bug occurs? unable to switch between sims, travel, or save the game. sims also randomly cancel their interactions that are queued.
What do you expect to see? normal game functions.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. started after love struck update was released.

my game is literally unplayable. I cannot command sims, I can’t switch between sims, can’t travel, or save the game. this all started after this god awful love struck update. I haven’t been able to play for days!!!!

I tried doing this today, and it seems to have worked (for that specific bug - just found out that I also can't travel to Thriftea for some reason, and that doesn't seem to be fixed by repairing or deleting the cache lol). Thank you!

My time in game is completely frozen and it takes forever for it to switch control from sim to sim. I also can't save the game. Is there something I can do?

I haven't played for a few days and got the update about an hour earlier - before this point, the save ran smoothly and fine but after the update, my Sims just stand in place and won't do anything - I can't even switch between Sims at all.  Tried quitting without saving several times, have no idea if this is related to the update or not.  I don't use mods or CC and haven't tampered with the save in any way.  Really confused and frustrated at potentially having to scrap my save.  Has the update done this to anyone else? Thank you.

What happens when the bug occurs? Was working fine before I updated the game this morning. Entire game glitches as soon as I open it. I am unable to click between different sims and the sim it is stuck on doesn't do the tasks I set or move at all. Time doesn't pass by. The build mode works fine, but I can't use gameplay mode at all.
What do you expect to see? The game working normally.

Same! Can't save or exit game. 

I repaired my game but this still did not fix the issue. I played about 6 hours after I bought the lovestruck gamepack and no issues initially. now I cannot switch between sims or command them at all. it sucks, was really enjoying the pack.

What happens when the bug occurs? Loading the game and i have about 5 seconds of normal gameplay and then the ability to switch between sims or speed up doesnt work anymore. Sims arent responding to queuing tasks
What do you expect to see? Being able to switch between sims and speed up gameplay. Sims responsing to tasks.

Hi all, 

I'm having problems with my game freezing, this just recently started happening. I can open the game fully but I cannot change between characters unless I pause the same but even then the time doesn't change and my sims do not move. I followed another forum and uninstalled the game and deleted the cache but nothing worked. I do not have any CC/mods only a few game add ons like dogs and cats. I then contacted EA help and was told they could not find anything wrong and it could be a bug can someone please help I just want to play sims!!!!
