Just checked and I did not see any option for my Sim to direct her dog to lie on a bed, even after she maximized the Pet Training skill. She tried both clicking on two different beds and on the dog. Where is that option supposed to be?

Ask to lie down or something.

Ah OK that makes more sense, sorry; this dog has never slept in the bed I bought her, opting for the couch instead, so I forgot she even had one. But my Sim just asked her to lie down in her own bed (the large pet bed called "embiggened sleeping station" I think), and she did so and went to sleep.

had my dog about a sim week and she still asking my Sim for her to go potty..
