Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.95.207.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Go into build mode for a dorm (Tidal Towers or Drake Hall or whatever). Any door placing will not go down with the walls.
What happens when the bug occurs? Any door placed in a dorm will not go down with the walls down.
What do you expect to see? They used to go down with the walls. I'd like that back
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure
I am not sure when this started happening as I haven't played or built a dorm in a while. I suspect it is related to the problem with doors in apartments. In short, the doors are always visible even if all walls are down or partially down. Door frames as well. This makes it difficult to see parts of the building as there is now a door standing up in the middle of your gameplay when it didn't used to do that.
Picture attached to show what I am talking about.

@Keijra Seems this is the same issue apartments have: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-CL-Apartements-Cutaway-view-shows-other-Apartement-Doors/m-p/11671632#M221632 (minus the cutaway as there's no neighbors)Keeping separate for now.Since the door issue might actually be unrelated to the cutaway issue, I split it to it's own thread.
If you have the cutaway issue, please use this thread: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/CL-San-Myshuno-Apartment-Walls/td-p/11671632

I don't think it's due to being an apartment or rental. I think it's because the wall is connected to outer walls.
This lot was never an rental but the doors stay visible, which I think is due to their location, ie being on a wall that connects to the outside walls. As it shows the bathroom door is visible in the screenshot that shows the walls down. It was also always a tiny lot.

No, the issue mentioned in this thread has nothing to do with the door placement and the wall being connected. The issue affects all the doors regardless of where they are placed on the wall, not just one or two doors. This issue is specific to lot types such as apartments, dorms and now rentals and it does not affect plain residential builds.

In game building or play, the doors and archways should "hide" when in walls cutaway view or walls down view but they do not.
This is a new issue for me (in the last week or so) and does not change when mods are removed/not used. I have also completed a game repair and see this in multiple homes and saves. Some homes have odd cutaways in the walls that look like a blank V shape in sections where there would normally be wall, particularly a problem in homes and apartments.
Currently in cutaway mode but is the same in walls down mode...
Here is an example with weird V cutouts in walls and doors up in cutaway view.
Again, this happens in all games/homes/saves. This is with and without any mods/cc. Game repair complete. Seeking solutions. This doesn't appear to be a placement issue since the placement is different around all games.
I am a mac user with 32 gigs of ram and a 2 tb hard drive so the machine isn't the issue IMO. My software engineer husband believes this is a rendering issue, potentially base game or a rendering issue caused by a conflict with the video card. He believes only the game makers can fix this. Since it has not been a previous problem, it can't be my video card or graphics card causing the rendering issue. Both drivers are up to date as well but if you can check that on yours just in case. If a video card driver update fixes this for you, please post.
Please make all replies kind. If you can't be kind, scroll on by with thanks. 🙂
- 2 years ago@mrstank30 I have seen tgis issue yesterday when i bought another front door. The door was everytime visible. Then I used the "old" door, that was on my house before i bought the new one, and then it was working fine.
What I want to say: Maybe only a few doors have this issue 🤔- merrysimmaker2 years agoSeasoned Veteran@666_Carbide_666 I'm not finding it to be a few doors. I've used several different doors and archways. You can see in the last screenshot that is an apartment door that can't be changed. These are lots I've created custom or lots that are premade within the game and the doors are original. It's a weird issue that I've never seen before. It makes game play difficult.

I'm having the same issue, in both apartments and rental residential lots also, all i can play in are normal residential lots bc the doors are driving me insane.
