[FIXED] [CoL] Chickens sometimes don't eat treat

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.77.131.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Everything except for Journey to Batuu, Dream Home Decorator and the kits
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Try to feed chicken one of the treats.
What happens when the bug occurs? Approximately half the time the chicken walks away and does not eat the treat. The treat is then left on the ground and can't be used. It's happened with just about every treat I've tried so far, sometimes they eat it, sometimes they don't.
What do you expect to see? I expect to see the chicken eat the treat.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

I don't know if it's by design or a bug, but my chickens only eat the treats I give them about half the time. Otherwise they walk away and leave it on the ground. Then the treat is wasted, I can't do anything with it except for having my sim throw it away. My llama always eats the treats my sim gives them, so this is kind of frustrating when I'm trying to do something, like get certain color eggs. I did have mods, but I removed them before installing CL.

@SJWmama I've noticed this too but I have one hen who will absolutely never eat any treat I give her no matter what I do (or don't do). Otherwise I've found it helps to socialize first to get their attention, then give them the treat and leave them alone for a while.
  • I have given my chickens treats both when they are hungry and when they are not. Sometimes they refuse to eat it. You cannot call them to eat it, so you end up just having to sell or trash it. It is a waste of resources to make the treats if you cannot get the chickens to eat them. I really hope this gets fixed soon.

  • I tried to feed animal treats to the chickens and they didn’t eat them, I move the treats around on the ground & they still don’t eat them. The chickens will say they are starving & not eat the treats.

  • I have the same problem! My workaround so far is: call the chicken over, wait until it has come, then select the action to feed and do not give the sim a new action (especially not to feed another chicken!) until the chicken is done eating and you get the message that the treat is now taking effect. Then it usually - still not 100% tho - works.

  • I've had similar cases when I've gone to build mode and forgot that the chicken is in the middle of eating the treat, that absolutely voids the whole treat. Also once I was feeding a treat to one chicken and then brainlessly went and scattered feed in general, so the chicken eating the treat stopped eating it and came to eat the regular feed instead. So as others have said, when feeding the treat to a chicken it's good to make sure that the chicken is not about to go anywhere else, like to sleep in the evening, and that none of your sims have any interactions related to chickens queued up, feed the treat and twiddle your thumbs until game pops up the message, or the hoverover shows that the treat is eaten and the next egg will be some-colour.
