    Your Sims will no longer be doomed to a life of Sisyphean crafting endeavors. They should now be able to complete the task to create a Cross-Stitch for the Taste for Adventure errand.

    Fixed in Patch 1.103.250/1.84

    Please create a new thread if you're still experiencing this issue,

I haven't tried this particular errand but from doing a lot of the others, I think the issue you and others are having is that you are trying to give it to the Mayor the wrong way.  Most of the Cottage Living NPCs that give you errands will have an option on them to give them whatever it is you were sent to find for them.  Usually, if you gift them the item from the option in your sim's inventory, it won't count and that sounds like what is happening for you.  So, try clicking on the Mayor and look for an option to give them the cross stitch.  It might be buried in one of their option menus somewhere and not readily apparent.

I’m having the same issue! I tried looking for it through the mayor’s interaction menu but there’s no option anywhere to gift it to him. I’ve tried deleting the errand and re-accepting it and that didn’t work either. I’m on pc and I don’t use any mods or CC

EDIT: I tried using testing cheats as suggested above and set the cross stitch as my sims head. This completed the task.
