Sims will no longer be stuck on client's lots after completing a home decorator gig.
Fixed in Patch 1.105.297/1.87

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Complete dream decorator gig
What happens when the bug occurs? Whether you choose to host the reveal or not, no payment is given and the game goes on. The decorating sim is still stuck at the gig and it shows as if it’s not completed with build mode still being able to be accessed. The prompts showing the gig was completed never comes up. You are forced to quit the gig just to have your sim return home, which affects their reputation and they are paid $0.
What do you expect to see? The completion of the gig prompts and access to return to home lot
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. The patch for Horse Ranch Expansion
Game worked fine previously with or without mods, but since the horse ranch patch it hasn’t. I have tried to repair it 3 times to no avail
