[FIXED] [DO] Unable to cook certain dishes on Chef Station

I had this issue too when I tried to get my sim to cook High Energy Protein Plate. After he placed the dish in the oven part of the Chef Station (the version I had was the L shaped chef station) he couldn't take it out of the oven and just kept popping up the "I can't get to that" thought bubble.

I think I also had issues when I tried to clear the oven out and the partially cooked protein plate was placed on the floor, then totally uninteractable (my sim couldn't clean it up) and I also couldn't select it in buy mode and couldn't delete it. I think I had to revert to an earlier save before I had the issue and then never used the chef station to cook that particular dish ever again.

I didn’t know this was added as a bug. I had this issue last month but I thought the cause was somehow the kitchen layout or objects around the chef station, which I didn’t know the relations well. In my case, my sim couldn’t cook Taco Casserole but I didn’t try every recipes then, so there could be more. I accidentally put the unfinished oven plate on the kitchen floor while replacing the chef station and found I couldn’t erase it whatever I tried. I chose to bulldoze whole lot once at last for that one oven plate, feeling a bit idiot.

I’ve avoided to use the station after that but now I read this report, so I briefly tried to find if the issue still remains in my game. Taco Casserole and Lobster Thermidor still got stuck in the oven, but my sim could successfully finish cooking Roast Chicken and baking White Cake. I didn’t have time to go through all recipes, sorry! However, I also found I didn’t have any problems with the Full Disclosure Chef Station, the straight one which is used as placed against wall so that it makes counter hole on the wall. My problem happened always at the I Dream of Sous, the reversed “L” letter shaped station, so far.

On two separate occasions I have tried to cook a Rack of Lamb in the "I Dream of Sous" Chef Station, and both times the cooking has stopped midway through (specifically when the meal is put into the oven) and I was unable to resume cooking.

I tried moving the chef station to a location where the was no possible obstacles (outside) and had no luck.

I attempted to delete the 'baking tray' item that was placed in the household inventory when the cooking station was put into the household inventory by selling them but they are unable to be sold. I tried to place them in the world and have the Sim(s) delete them, but they are now stuck on the ground and are unable to be interacted with and therefore deleted. 

I do not have any mods installed.

The only cheat I have used is bb.moveobjects, however the station is still aligned to the grid with no other objects obstructing.

I am able to cook other meals as normal (I have not tested every available meal).

So I checked most of recipes on both ordinary and gourmet cooking lists with I Dream of Sous chef station in order to identify which one is safe for daily meal, simply because I didn’t want to reproduce an indestructible oven tray anymore. I haven’t tested Ambrosia, Walleye Surprise and the street foods in City Living yet, but I assume those recipes are fine because my sim doesn’t need an oven to cook.

Anyway, the followings are foods my sim couldn’t cook with the station:

・Taco Casserole

・Vegetable Casserole

・Tuna Casserole

・Lobster Thermidor

-These 4 unfinished baking trays were same in appearance: something yellow in white baking pan.

・Rack of Lamb

・High Energy Protein Plate (Except for the cheapest & smallest one since it can be cooked without oven)

 -These trays were also same in appearance: brown meat with ribs

My sim could cook all cakes, cookies and Roast Chicken, all of which had different appearances from above 2 types of trays in the oven. The appearances are probably not important, but I think these are also debug objects like dolls that sims are holding in their hands while playing with dollhouse. I just thought these two specific tray objects had been allocated some kind of internal data which causes an error, or the chef station itself. Just a hypothesis.

And again, I tried to cook these 6 failed foods at the Full Disclosure chef station, and none of them got stuck in the oven. Another chef station works all fine in my game.

I haven’t carefully tested baking recipes but since my sim’s running a retail shop, he’s been constantly baking a variety of bread, pies and sweets for selling, and has encountered no problem so far. Baking looks also fine in my case. By the way, baking recipes use also different oven tray objects from failed foods.

I couldn’t check experimental foods. Instead, I made my sim visit a restaurant in which I had installed the I Dream of Sous chef station to see if they can serve one of the failed foods there. The result was no problem. The chef and station seemed like functioning in a different way than my sim and it normally do in their house. So, this cannot add to Dine Out’s bugs at least.

playing on my b/f laptop. I just got the walmart bundle as this is the closet place we have (tiny town). i ran 2 files and each ti,e the rack of lamb couldn't be finished. not on win 10, no mods just the sims 4, free pack the movie items pack and the dine out pack. doesn't cook it, just acts like the path is blocked. Can clean it up just fine. i tried moving the workstation stove., i also moved my sim. Any fix?

do you mean on the chef station that comes with Dine Out ?

Hi there, I am also having this very same issue right this moment. It was while trying to prepare the rack of lamb recipe on the chef station. I have tried relocating the chef station as well as restarting the recipe numerous times with the same outcome. My sim acts as if there is a path blockage and does not continue, however my sim can empty the oven or start another recipe with no problem. 

Gonna give this a "me too." I had one of my Sims try to make rack of lamb on her chef station. She got the ingredients out of the fridge, and the simoleons were subtracted from the household funds. As she walked up to the chef station, though, she did that little animation Sims do when there's a path blockage and put the ingredients on a counter.
