That is a good workaround for some of the items like beds and probably chairs and lamps! Ty for posting that! Sadly that won't work for some items though like the rugs or things you can't click on to get a menu, but will be nice to at least be able to submit some of the other items. I'm surprised this bug hasn't been addressed yet tbh since it's a pretty major bug in a career path.
This bug is easy to replicate too so hopefully that will help them fix it.
Step 1. Make a freelancer with the crafter option.
Step 2. Pick a freelance gig that involves the fabricator.
Step 3. Follow what you're supposed to do (Chat with the client, make the item, use the computer to submit the item)
...
That's all. Nothing else needed. Happens every time. The problem seems to be it's Selling the item from the build/buy rather than actually having it "send" the item to the client and complete the task. The client even thanks you like it did send it properly and should have completed. Since it actually just sold it in the build/buy that's why you get the $$ that you would normally if you sold it there instead of the actual $$ for the gig & completion. That's also why if it's a clickable item (like a bed) you can place it on your lot and then send it to the client that way & get paid properly and credit for the gig.
If anyone having this trouble is low in your fabrication skill & are making rugs for the gigs you won't be able to submit them. The UI Cheats mod will work to complete the gig though if you aren't opposed to using mods. In that mod right click on that task forcing it to complete after you submitted the item to the client and that should complete it. That doesn't help console users very much though ☹️
You can make candles too at lower fabrication level, but really who wants to spend 7+ hours on a gig to make 3 candles for low pay....I'd rather send my sim to a rabbit hole career than stare at her while she stares at the candle crafting station waiting for a single candle to harden. It may be the best option though early on until you can make something for a gig on the fabricator that is clickable like a chair so you can use the nice workaround troubled_potatis posted.
I hope this gets fixed soon along with the numerous nasty bugs in this expansion This expansion really needs some help, it's in bad shape.
