I do have the same problem everyone else describes in regards to the fridge and stove.
I equipped the stove with fuel cells, so it should not draw from the household‘s power reserves at all, but it still does. To experiment I removed all power generating objects and refilled the cell and the game doesn‘t seem to register that the stove should have power, while it allows me to pick a recipe from the picker, the action stops at the point when the sim should start using the stove. The fuel cells on both stove and fridge never seem to deplete either, their fuel level is always high. Curiously enough, everything seemed to worked fine, when I first moved my sims into the house and installed the fuel cell upgrade and other objects using the fuel cells - the laptop for example - work as they should.
Edit: The fridge had ice in it too. =)
2nd Edit: I forgot to mention, the power cell upgrade on the vacuum cleaners from bust the dust equally does not work.
@SimQARobo (and all)
I’ve seen this myself, but it stops when I apply the energy efficient upgrade to the fridge. I assumed this was by design because I do add ice to the fridge as a “back up” in case I use up all my power. Once I have stable off-grid power I can check the ice level and it stays at 100% all the time.
I also don’t use electric lights if I can help it because those seem to draw a silly amount of power. Basically, if I can apply an energy efficient upgrade I use it off the grid, and if I can’t, I don’t. (Yes to the stove and TV, no to lights.)
On one of my off the grid lots, three wind turbines will power a fridge, stove, television, internet, and a single electric light bulb that came with the lot but I haven’t gotten around to deleting yet (The Admirals Shipwreck). Two will do the fridge, stove, television (in one lot), and internet at others without electric lights. (All with the energy efficient upgrade, and they watch the television infrequently. But they got it out of the dumpster and I let them keep it.)
