This just happened during a build I have been working on for several days. The highlighted box cannot be deleted. I get the "failed to compute cost" error message. I can't demolish the lot or replace it. This happens in build and live modes. I have tried using different lots and get the same results. I have repaired the game and started a new game, still the same results. I just want to finish this build ☹️
I also am having this issue. I could delete everything except this flat. I have tried all things mentioned to remove it and none work. I even took out the game entirely, cleaned up files and such on my pc and then reinstalled the game. I kept my cc and mods out of game. went back into game, and lot was exactly how I left it before I took out game. Taking out all games, stuff packs, and add ons did nothing. It is my favorite lot to play on. EA needs to come up with a solution quickly
In reply to my previous post; I don't know if this will help anyone, but it did me. I had decided since I couldn't play that lot I would play another--as I was getting ready to fire up the Sims, I went on a whim to the saves folder. Even tho I had uninstalled and reinstalled my game, there was stuff in it. I deleted it all out. Then started up my game after I put my mods folder with cc and such back in. My lot was as it should be with the start of new game. Saved lot to my library, then bull dozed it and started building. Have had no trouble since. So mine is fixed at this moment. Had to start new game of course, but my lot is fixed!! Hopefully this will help someone else.
Same issue. I downloaded a lot from the gallery which had a room that gives me the same error and now I can't delete the room or place another lot from the gallery as it gives me the same error message. Really annoyed. The lot seems to have been removed from the gallery at least.
I had this error and got the same message, and then I could not rotate or delete it any more, Luckily I just went back to the moment I picked it up.
So if you are in the building mode, you can withdraw from this action. Well, but unfortunately you have to guess that there is a problem.

I've come across a problem that many people seem to have, with the curved fence room. I added one, resized it (which I now know is what causes the bug) and now I can't remove the portion of the porch. I have tried everything I've seen suggested here to no avail. I've restarted the game, and my computer. I've repaired the game. I have tried replacing the lot to only receive the "failed to compute cost" error. I have tried bulldozing the lot only to be stuck with the loading screen, causing me to have to restart my computer in order to get the game to close. I was going to close the game without saving, but due to reflex I stupidly clicked "save and exit" instead of just exit. I'm not sure what else I can do to get rid of the lot. I really don't want to have to lose the save because of this small issue.

I think ive figured it out, place 'styled rooms' down over the lot and delete them all along with the other things it wont let you delete.
Having the same issue with the broken round floor. unfortunatly the 'styled room' drop didnt work for me.
any word on a fix for this yet?
