@SproutLee Hello! Thanks for starting this thread. I'm having this issue as well. I even created a new unmodded save for testing.
I renovated one of my lots called University Freedom to be used as a rental. All of the changes were made on the Britechester / Honeydew Fields lot while the lot type was still Residential. Then I changed the lot type to Residential Rental and assigned all the units. I saved the lot to my Library. When placing that lot in a new save, the lot name and all the units reverted to Honeydew Fields.
The spoiler below contains screenshots of the steps I took to place the University Freedom Rental lot on Honeydew Fields.
First placed the Residential version. I wanted to see if this made any difference in the name change. (Hint: It did not. lol :-/ )
The lot name changed appropriately as a Residential lot ... World view showing the change
Then I changed the lot type to Residential Rental and placed that version of the lot from my Library.
The lot venue info shows the units already reverted to Honeydew Fields.
The World view showed the lot name also reverted to Honeydew Fields.
I really hope the sims team fixes this as soon as possible. There are a lot of steps involved with creating the new rental lot type, so it is really frustrating to see a lot of that work just get overwritten when the lot is saved and placed again. Thank you!

One thing that a friend and I noticed is that the lot name in the secondary view never changes regardless of how many times I rename it. Even when it's changed in Map view, after clicking on the lot, the secondary view shows the original lot name. There is no option to change it there. I'm guessing this is at least part of what's causing the problem.
