- You can now select and edit wall heights on Residential Rentals without having to delete and replace the walls.

This thread is currently a bit of a collection. There are either several issues going on or still misunderstandings how building works. It's difficult for me to distinguish as I personally don't build.
As people just keep adding different stuff to this thread, it's currently kept as collection until things get figured out.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Playing the game in build mode
What happens when the bug occurs? After an indeterminate amount of time (Sometimes, immediately in the first household I open, Sometimes, after several hours of gameplay) Build mode develops an error where I can pick up objects, but not delete them or place them down again. Removing custom content, mods, repairing the game via the EA app and reinstalling don’t appear to have any impact. The issue occurs when I leave the household and re-enter another one. This appears to happen on multiple households, at random. Same for community venues and rentals.
What do you expect to see? Ideally for build mode to work properly
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them. Issue occurs after this has happened too, Indicating this is not connected to mods.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes, After installing For Rent.
Please describe the patch or change you made. I downloaded For Rent and did the update, no mods in game at the time. Remains after reinstall and repair, removal of CC/Mods and copying/moving the folder to test.
The issue doesn’t show up in screenshots, essentially when I pick up an object I am unable to place it down again or delete it. Edited to update solutions I’ve attempted so far.

I am also having this same issue, exactly as you described. I haven’t even attempted playing a new family yet, I was just trying to build in build mode/manage worlds and I’m immediately not able to delete objects/place them again. Sometimes the “undo” button isn’t working either.
It’s extremely buggy.
It’s an odd one - I did wonder if it may be related to the Zerbu - copy worlds mod as although I deleted CC, the copied worlds remained, but it’s playing up a new save as well. Have you got any custom content installed?
I'm unable to build walls so long as the lot is listed as a residential unit, even if no rooms are assigned yet. I get 'You can't build outside of owned area' even if there's no tenet and the lot itself isn't owned by anyone. if I change it back to residential, there's no issue
