[FIXED] [GF] Acting Career Sim not getting gig pop-up

    Fixed the issue with the Actor Career where Sims were unable to complete their gig when they would travel and return home before it was time for the gig.

    Fixed in Patch 1.63.13

    Haven't tested yet .. hope it's actually fixed

After lots of testing this afternoon and confirmation from others, the following workaround should work

  1. Cancel any stuck gigs you already have. You won't be able to complete them
  2. Get a new gig
  3. If you don't have the perk that allows you to skip auditions, you're allowed to travel until you have to go to the audition. I would make sure you're on the home lot before the audition starts.
  4. Do not travel, Go to CAS, the Map, Household Manager or reload the save game until you get the pop-up to go to work. No Loading screens allowed between the audition and the gig.
  5. It's no problem to let the the Sim go to the audition or other rabbit hole events. If you have another active career you play in that household, always send the Sim alone.
  6. Once you get the gig pop-up you can join the Sim at the set and do the task there. There should be no problem fulfilling them.
  7. You can then travel again until you get the next gig.
  8. You can save your game in between but not re-load or turn off.

For anyone where these steps don't work, please make sure you remove all your mods and test on a vanilla game to make sure it's not a mod issue.

So far, I've duplicated it for the following actions:

  • Reloading the game while you have a gig open (after audition)
  • Travelling to another lot while you have a gig open (after audition)
  • Using Household Manager (after audition)
  • Going to CAS (after audition)

These didn't trigger it for me

  • Going to build mode and changing things
  • Saving the game
  • Pressing M, then pressing M again to go back
  • Going for a jog in the neighborhood without switching lots
  • Going for a walk  with the dog in the neighborhood without switching lots

There are reports that this doesn't work for some people. I've tested saves of several people saying so and it worked for me each time so I don't know why it doesn't work for some if you follow above instructions.

@crinrict When talking about getting a gig, do you mean selecting one or passing the audition?

    @kusurusu I'm unsure at this point if you can travel before you go to the audition. The Sim I mainly tested with didn't have go to to them anymore.

    One person I talked to said they traveled before they went to the audition and it was fine but I haven't tested this scenario so I wanted to be on the save side for now until I get a chance to test it.

    So what I meant was from the time you select one but if you still have auditions, it's possible you can still travel inbetween that time.

    @zumamoose That turned out not to be the reason. Check my workaround post above

      It looks like it might be okay to save after you call your agent, as long as you haven't gone to the audition yet. I tested an existing save twice, where my Sim already had an audition scheduled. She traveled after the audition the first time (before I read about the new bug) and sure enough, she did not get the popup for the gig. She did not travel at all the second time until she went to the gig. The save was from last week and I don't remember whether she had done any traveling between the time she called her agent and the time that I saved.

        I was so excited to finally use the acting career again when I learned that you guys fix the traveling bug. But now Sims won’t go to their acting career at all. They attend auditions but don’t go to the actual filming

    @crinrict

    I'm seeing indications that this bug is effecting other jobs as well. Scientist career isn't working for me at all, even not traveling. Did a quick test with the detective career and it worked the one time I tried it. I'm seeing reports from other users it's not working for a lot of jobs. This may end up being a huge bug.
