[FIXED] [GF] Sims distorted after using styling chair

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:Mac
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.105.345.1220
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Use the All-in-one styling station from get famous, let a teen sim ask for a new hair style, and then when the first hair style gets applied, use the button "keep style". As soon as you keep style the body and face deforms the same way as it was deforming from the jewellery bug from Crystal creations that just got fixed in the last e-patch.
What happens when the bug occurs? The body becomes a lot thinner and the face squishes vertically, the eyes become smaller, the same way as it was deforming from the jewellery bug from Crystal creations that just got fixed in the last e-patch.
What do you expect to see? No change in the face and body, only application of new hair.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. I only observed it now after the last patch, but I don't know if it was already there with the crystal creations patch too. Before I was able to use this chair without damaging my sims, although I rarely play with Teens, so mostly had used it on young adults before. This bug now I only tested on Teens today.

It looks like the bug from Crystal Creations was not fixed, it is now happening when using the styling chair from get famous, with the exact same effect that we observed with the Crystal creations bug!

Edit By Crinrict: Added Tag to Title. Please add pack tags yourself. Thank you.

I would also like to know about the acting career. I'm so sick of not being able to update my game.

  • Hi!

I still haven't updated for For Rent (current game version is 1.102.190.1030). I'm planning to update today but I wanted to test this bug before I do it. I tested with new save file and no mods/CC and the bug occurs in my game, too. I tested with a teen sim and an adult sim. At that same moment I click "keep style" I can see my sims body/face changing. With the adult, their hips go wider and with the teen their chin goes shorter and body shrinks. I have pictures, but I'll upload them if needed, there seems to be already pictures and mine are very similar.

I have also played with an adult actress just a few months ago with the same game version and I didn't notice any change with her even she did get styled for her gigs with the styling station. It's a different interaction + the Sim does not keep the style so I guess the bug doesn't affect the acting career. BUT at that time I didn't keep an eye on this bug and now I didn't test it per se so I'm not 100% sertain.

  • I think I've found another instance where this happens: When removing occult traits.

I gave Yuki Behr the spellcaster trait at some point far back, but I decided to turn her into a vampire instead. I first tried to remove the spellcaster trait with cheats, which made all of her facial features shrink. I closed without saving and instead tried to remove it the regular way, by asking a Sage, but it gave the same result. I closed without saving again, and this time I tried the fix-genetics-trick, which can be seen in this youtube video, to see if that would help, but it was the same result when removing the spellcaster trait. I also tried in a test save where I haven't played with her at all. First I added the vampire trait, to see if it's only the spellcaster trait or if other occult traits do this too. Adding the trait didn't change her face, but when I removed it again her facial features shrunk. I went out without saving and tried again with the spellcaster trait in the unplayed save file, same thing, nothing happens to the face when adding the trait, but when removing it, the facial features shrink.

But, Yuki is a teen, and from my understanding the bug with faces changing with the styling chair and jewellery is worse for teenage sims than adult sims. I decided to try with two adult sims, Caleb and Lilith, since I wanted to turn them into regular sims anyway. I did the fix-genetics-trick in the video linked above, and I did it with all facial features, not only the ones shown in the video, just to make sure that wouldn't influence anything. I removed the vampire traits from Caleb and Lilith, and Caleb looks exactly the same as before, while Lilith got a little puffier cheeks, but it's very subtle. I had removed Caleb and Lilith's dark forms before this.

I don't want to do more testing now, because I've tried so many things and it's getting tiring. So, if anyone wants to do some testing I'd suggest to try it with several of the occult traits, with sims of different ages, and both male and female sims. But make sure to do the fix-genetics-trick first, to rule out that the sims you test with have broken genetics.
