[FIXED] [GTW] Employees restock for free

I just noticed that when an employee restocks an item in my retail store, the restocking doesn't cost anything. The store's finances aren't affected at all. If the played character restocks the item, money is withdrawn as it should.

I googled it and even found a video on youtube showing the exact same thing (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdYXEdBR2m4), but I couldn't find any report of it here.

I can't imagine this is how it is supposed to work. The obvious workaround is to not let employees restock, but that would make employees less useful.

I have no mods and no CC. Main game and GTW only. Playing on PC.

    • Employees now deduct funds when restocking, so it’s no longer free. But also, the cheaper restocking perk now works for employees. We giveth, we taketh away.

    Fixed in Patch 1.46.18

Unfortunately it's not in my hands what gets fixed and what doesn't.

    It's on the list.

  • After seeing another thread ( https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-GTW-Free-restocking-in-shop/td-p/6728256 ) on a similar issue I decided to check again what happens. I created a new store with an existing sim who owns lots of Jungle Adventures treasure. She doesn't have a family so I have only tested with owner and one employee. I tested with found treasure from JA, clothes on a mannequin and an ordinary item from buy mode. She didn't have any crafted items so I haven't tested that.

    This is what I found:

When the employee restocks either JA found treasures or ordinary buy mode items, the cost is added to "outgoing costs" but not deducted from "business funds".
When the employee restocks clothes on the mannequin, the cost is added to "outgoing costs" and added to"business funds".

When the owner restocks either JA found treasures or ordinary buy mode items, the cost is added to "outgoing costs" and deducted from "business funds".
When the owner restocks clothes on the mannequin, the cost is added to "outgoing costs" but not deducted from "business funds".

The error isn't fixed at closing time. Only the employee's wages are deducted then.

    Conclusion:
    - Employees restock items for free and actually increase the funds when restocking outfits.

    - Owner restocks clothes for free.

This is after the June patch. I haven't watched what happens to clothing before now, so I don't know if there have been any changes to that or if it has been like that all the time.

I have all of the expansions (except seasons of course since won't be released until tomorrow), all game packs and about half of the stuff packs. No CC, and the few mods I use are disabled due to the recent patch.

(EDIT: after double-checking the numbers I wrote down I realised that when employees restock clothes on a mannequin the business funds actually increase instead of decrease. I've corrected the text above accordingly.)

The bug in my game is (or was, cannot test atm) almost the same, except that also owners restock catalogue items for free. If they restock something, it is not even added to outgoing costs.
