What happens when the bug occurs? During sports day my teen who did not do any sports, was just hanging out eating snacks and doing homework, got the blue corner popup about Finchwick Fair Competition Result, claiming she had entered a milk and offering her a participation award. She didn't really get the participation award, just the pop-up.
What do you expect to see? No Finchwick announcements at HSY

This was a sports day, not cheerleading day, and my chess nerd was just hanging out, didn't even touch the football, just wanted to see what it's like. Event ran normally, but when it ended, she got a blue pop-up about Finchwick Fair Competition Result, claiming her milk didn't win. The sports day is not even on the same day as Finchwick Fair, so couldn't be a timing issue. I think the game just didn't know what to do with her since she didn't throw the ball around at all.
Edit: another sim, this time computer science fair. This time the judge did appear (in the chess science fair the judge wasn't even there) and my sim could submit the contest entry just fine, but no judging took place, Finchwick Fair Competition Result popped up and the event despawned. The Finchwick Fair Competition Result was now for another sim of mine, that isn't a teen, and lives in HoB. It's Thursday, not FF day.
I have all the expansions, Kits, Legacy, packs . . .

My Sim traveled with her teammate and the completed a routine. The Judge walked away as soon as he arrived in the competition area, but a teacher was able to accept the score. I even retried the event after doing a repair and got the same results - word for word the same results. By the way its Friday and the Finchwick fair is on Saturday.
I am replying on my own statement. After the poor egg message, I waited as my sim was making friends and at 10:15 (Sim time) the first time I tried and 10:13 the second a new message appeared with the results of the Cheerleading competition!!! This is after all the tables and signage has vanished from the field. I even found a Trophy in my sim's household inventory.
It took me multiple times to get the teacher or judge to stay long enough to get to their extra long speech where everyone is taking notes... Hope that makes sense.
A few things I learned doing this event approximately 30 times:
1. Do not click on the festival signage to travel to the event.
2. Do add your "teammates" to your travel, so that the group arrives together.
3. Take your sim's bike out of the inventory before leaving home.
4. If both the Judge and the Teacher loose their Headline.. give up and try again.
5. I have only been able to get a score submitted when my Group is only 2 sims.
