Not sure if it's helpful, but I've been playing around with some tuning files and I (likely) found out why this is happening. I've also made a temporary fix for myself and if allowed I could share it. The problem is in the statistic_HSExit_ExpulsionTracker. There is a max of 3 strikes you can get before being expelled. Once it's at -3 your sim gets expelled. When you re-enroll into high school the tracker doesn't reset, so it's immediately at -3, resulting in getting expelled again.

This is happened to me as well. How it happened: it was the Harvest Fest holiday, so there should be no school that day (there was no prompt to go to school that day). I sent my sim to the school lot manually anyway to use the easels, and found out classes were still going on despite it being a holiday, but my sims could not join the classes. Throughout the day, while my sim was painting inside the school, the teacher and the principal came 3 times to scold my sim saying something like "you had the nerve to skip classes and still show up at the school" (on a holiday!). After these 3 interactions, my sim's school performance went all the way down to "ok". The next day I made sure my sim got a gold school day, but at the same time that my sim got the notification saying that they did great at school, they also got expelled (no consistency at all). Trying again and again doesn't fix it, they will get expelled every time. Thankfully I had a backup of that save taken before that holiday day, so I returned my game to that backup save and made sure my sim never got scolded by the teachers, and she never got expelled again.
Seems that no matter what you do, once your school performance goes below great you're 100% set to get expelled the next day, even if you have a perfect school day. The expulsion system and compatibility with the holidays are so broken...
- 3 years ago@Mielosh Hey there, thanks for the info, any chance please you could explain that step by step for the ones who don't know anything about coding but still want to try to fix this annoying issue? (including myself lol) Thank you so much!

So how did you fix this ?

I assume it's a config file somewhere or something? I haven't looked yet, but my wife ran into getting a character expelled for the first time in her years of playing. It's the one game she plays. I just helped set the accounts up. I saw online a YouTube video regarding another patch to install, but I feel I could just use a script to reset the value each time she loads the game. The way I read your response, is this what you did?
Forgive my ignorance. First time posting on this forum. Found my post and will update once I figure out how to do this.

I've already created a fix for it. The reason is as Mielosh already posted before, that a counter is not reset when being expelled.
The fix is to remove that statistic counter as soon the buff for being expelled is added.

You haven’t explained how to reset the counter

So is there a way to fix that ?

I hope it is ok to direct you to the Nexusmods. (Links are not allowed here). The fix can be found at the More class mates mod in the optional files section. You do not need the main mod for it.
(I hope I will not get banned for this post. I asked EA if it is allowed to direct you to the Nexus but did not received an answer since 2 weeks.)
