WORKAROUND:
I had a save file at 30min before prom, so I could try various things and I found a way that (so far) has worked every time. Take your teen Sim, travel to their high school and receive the travel prompt while you're at the school lot. It has to be the high school lot, no other lot seem to work. When you're at the Sim's high school and you hit "travel to the prom", a loading screen appears and you get transferred to the auditorium like you're supposed to.
If your Sim does absolutely nothing when prompted and ordered to travel to prom, please try this and reply here how it went..
That is a good idea, I tried it just a short moment ago after my new teen actor didn't travel. This was her 2nd prom attempt, 1st I figured failed cause she was at the family store running it at the time.
This time I had her stay at the school nearly the whole day just working on acting and painting, tell the prom prompt came up. Told her to travel and nothing.
This is the first time I've had this start to happen, seems to only have started since the holiday sale and when I got bored and bought Batuu, But none of that should of effected this at all.
My Partner is able to send her Teens to prom on her computer, we have nearly the same mods installed as well, just one she has that I don't have installed.
This Teen Sim I'm not overly worried about it though, just concerned for future ones if it starts to keep happening with them. Previous Teens in the same save i'm using were able to go just fine, and I have seen them show up at the High school during normal class time too.
Not sure what to try, already did a full repair and reinstall yesterday when I had trouble with a pack installing properly.
I have a theory to the "stayed at school the whole day" -scenario, where the workaround didn't work. When I traveled to my high school lot to receive the prompt, a lot of school-related Sims also arrived there. If you stay at the school for a long period of time and there isn't an actual school day going on, I suppose other Sims might leave. If we assume the principal is in fact in key role in this, then I suppose the prom problem might kick in again when the "principal has left the building", i.e. if you're at the school lot for too long and the principal leaves there before you receive the prompt to travel.
This all is of course just massive speculation. All I know for certain is that in my case the workaround has worked every time, even in separate occasions. In each occasion I've traveled to high school lot right before the prom and there have been other Sims around, appearing right after me but before the prompt. Also every time I'm somewhere else than the high school lot, the travel prompt doesn't work.
