[FIXED] [IL] Mermaid genetics dont work

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.52.100.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All of them
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Make a mermaid have a baby either with another mermaid or a human sim.
What happens when the bug occurs? The child gets a townie face, the game seems to pull from the same pool of faces as it seems to be the same ones that come up again and again.
What do you expect to see? That my mermaids are able to pass on their genetics correctly and that their children look like them.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Installed Island Living

My sim had triplets with her merman husband in my save, I was excited to see the babies but when they were born I immediately noticed something was wrong. I then continued to test it several times, with and without my mods installed and it Always occured unless I turned the father human. This is very upsetting as it basically makes mermaids completely unplayable as anything but single households or in games where you don't want family gameplay. I've attached some pictures below to show what I mean. (Parents + their children. Keep in mind some of these pics were taken before I removed mods but one is after as well)

  • Mermaids now properly pass along their genetics to the next generation.

     Fixed in Patch 1.54.120

This was also fixed for Console in 1.17

@magicslippers Is this for a new family or did you play this family before the fix ?

If it's the last, could you test a new one to see how that goes ? To see if it's a issue with legacy saves.

@magicslippers Do you have no mods/cc at all or just no genetic ones ?

If it's the later one, can you test without anything at all ?

Delete the localthumbcache file and repair your game as well.

@crinrict Well, surprising results. Tested vanilla game, new save and legacy save, no issues with genetics (mermaid x human = twin mermaid offsprings on both saves, 2 generations tested).

Guess it was a mod conflict or corrupt game after all...
  • @crinrictI'm glad it's fixed as well and this was only an issue on my end. So far it would seem it's game corruption on my end.

Edit: Yup, it wasn't mod related. Odd. Especially since it was a new save.

In my game... genetics are inheriting correctly, except with one human parent and one mermaid parent the kids seem to be inheriting the occult state 100% of the time instead of the expected 50%.  Out of 6 children I would have expected at least one of them to be a human.

Anybody else finding this also or do you think this is a problem on my end?  This is a new save since the patch, but I am running mods like MCC.

@raiface This issue has been fixed a while ago.

MCCC could have an influence so it's best to test if you get the same issue on a modless game.
