Mermaids previously would not die due to starvation or aging up. That has been fixed. Remember to feed your Mermaids!

In my household I have 2 old mermaid sims. A LONG time ago the game said they would be dying soon, this was around the time when their offspring were teens. Because their Fitness skills are high I expected them to last a while longer, but their children are now adults and they still won't die. They aren't the only ones. I installed 2 mermaid sims from the library. They are around the same age as my main household older sims, both have their age bars maxed. One of those mermaids lived with a non-mermaid sim and that sim died long before him. None of the 4 mermaid sims in Sulani have died. I use mods but I disabled them and took them out of the mods folder. I repaired the game, played those sims and the issue is still there. I actually tried using cheats to kill them. It gave one of them the Dangerously Tired moodlet and made them woohoo since it won't let me do more exercise, instead of dying the moodlet got cancelled out and they could keep doing sports for even more hours until the pulled muscle moodlet showed up, then it left after a while. Please, I need help to make my mermaid sims die normally of old age.

Have you tried to repair the game?
Go to the Origin/Library - right-click on TS4 - option "repair game"
You have to wait until Origin will fix all packs, not only the base game.
It could be also helped if you can locate The Sims4 folder. It is in Documents/Electronic Arts/ The Sims 4.
Open it and delete localthumbcache.package file and all folders what have "cache" word in the name. The game will recreate them but without saved errors.
If you have any mods move the mods folder to the desktop.

I have tried to repair the game multiple times, i do not have any localthumbcache in any of my cache files. actually my cache files are pretty much empty. I tried moving the mods and repairing, it didn't work either.

Are mermaids considered immortal? So, if they are, than they wouldn't die. I'm always worried 5hat my mermaid will die from starvation, she get so hungry; all she does is sleep, or swim around in the ocean. I'm glad she hasn't died.
@ishouldhavemarri Mermaids are not considered immortal. They just seem to have longer-than-average elder lifespans.
For example: On my long-neglected legacy save, my founder aged up to Elder with 11 days left, according to MCCC. Her mermaid spouse aged up to Elder with 44 days left. Both "normal" lifespan, but he's a mermaid and she's an ordinary Sim. Up until the elder life stage he had a perfectly normal "normal" lifespan.
I consider this a feature, not a bug, because I'm attached to him.
recently discovered something i thought i should share. dont know if this counts as a glitch but my mermaid sims are incapable of dying certain deaths. im playing a legacy challenge and my entire clan are now mermaids and when it came to the nature part of the legacy challenge i found mermaid sims could not
- drown (that seems obvious but still something to note)
- starve??? (when it says starve to death in like 3 seconds the timer dissappears completely and its just an uncomfortable moodlet like with dirty surroundings
- die from pufferfish (i assume this is because theyre mermaids and fish cannot kill them but still i was consuming like 20 poor quality pufferfish nigiris a day until i finally thought let me try this as a human sim - why isnt this noted somewhere that certain types of sims cannot be killed certain ways like bodybuilder elders cant die of overexertion from working out)
these are the only deaths ive found that conflict with mermaids.
i even tried to cheat the pufferfish death but mccommand center wouldnt even let me select pufferfish as a way to kill them. been racking my brain for the oast couple of days until i reached the conclusion that mermaids are tough to kill
The only way I got one of my Elder mermaids to die was to starve him.

It’s Sept 2021 and I’m still having this issue.
I created an old folks home and started moving my elder mermaids there. My first mermaid sim now lives in the home with her great granddaughter… at this rate I’m gonna have to make another old folks home…
It seems now the mermadic kelp won't work either. It didn't take the supernatural off my sim, I used like 10 of them and it did nothing. I was doing this so my sim would actually die from old age, but since it won't let me I had to use a cheat to kill my sim with a rabbit... But at least that allowed me to get the special mermaid urn. But I don't want to have to kill off my sims with a cheat every time. Is anyone having the same issue with the mermadic kelp? I have tried repairing the game, it didn't work. This is getting out of hand.
@mengzhu123 Yes, mine actually passed away on its own after like nearly a generation after?? Its ridiculous, they are almost a vampire. But when they died, they died with the normal sim urn, not the mermaid one. So that's still a technical issue.
Truly I don't know why EA hasn't tried to fix this. It's not a small bug, its affecting the whole mermaid supernatural race. But option you may have is to kill them with the rabbit like I did? You would have to use a cheat. But that's just for if you just want to get rid of them. To make a mermaid die by old age is a very long process and nearly impossible in my opinion.
