[FIXED] [IL] Mermaids Not Getting Hydration

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.52.100.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Every one of them.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I'm not entirely sure how to replicate it. It started happening after a while and it's randomly when my sim has been swimming as a mermaid for a long period of time.
What happens when the bug occurs? Instead of swimming like a mermaid, my mermaid swim will swim like a human, just with a tail instead of legs. On top of that, while she's in the water, her hydration will go down anyways. It's like the game is confused on whether she's a human or a mermaid.
What do you expect to see? Hydration continuously increasing while she's in the water, and the swimming animation to match the mermaids.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

Additionally, when she's in the water it looks blurry/like her fin is 3D and like the water isn't crystal clear.

Is anyone still seeing this issue ?

EDIT: Going to mark this as fixed. If anyone still sees it, please speak up.

  • I have also noticed this

sometimes it happens when I go to manage worlds and come back to the family and then my mermaid sim is swimming like a normal sim and is losing hydration. Then the sim even starts to GAIN hydration when they get out of the water.

this sometimes also happens if I reset/debug the sim while they’re in the water.

reseting the sim once they are out of the water does not fix the problem only going to manage worlds or completely restarting the game fixes the issue.

@crinrictI’m still seeing this issue and she swims like a human. But in a pool not in the ocean. I never used mods until a few days ago (no cc clothing just mostly stuff to fix the game). I took out the mods and it’s still happening. I’m going to try to repair my game but this is something I noticed since November which was way before I even touched mods.

@crinrict Yes she does have a hydration bar. She has the tail and everything, she even transforms in the tub and the tub she gets hydration, same in showers, same in the ocean. It’s just pools that she swims like a human (with her tail) and she gets no hydration from pools.

@crinrictSo I just tested it out without one of the mods I had to correct the swimming issue and it works again. So this is good 🙂

P.S. Further testing resulted in finding out it was actually a mod that prevented mermaids from humming and making those dolphin noises. Guess it was suppressing their true mermaid-ness and not gaining hydration. The swimming fix mod was preventing them from swimming around like a mermaid.

Name of the mods: No more mermaid "hum", No more mermaid "Coo", and Swim Around in Pools.
