Hi @reboot2019
changed your title a bit to better reflect your issue. Feel free to change it again if you're not happy but please make it that the title contains the actual issue,
What do you mean by no caches are created ? You mean the cache folder after deleting ?
Just to be sure, the new game works as intended entirely ?

Hi @crinrict I appreciate you changed the title to better reflect the issue, but my original title 'Game Breaking Update' reflects my personal feelings that I hoped would alert the developers to my unhappiness (anger!) but I guess you know them better.
When I close a game from that save the cache file is empty.
Starting and closing (with save) a completely fresh game leaves the cache folder empty
Starting a fresh game and importing the household from the gallery the game filled the cache folder with thumbnails as it usually does after visiting the gallery.
I also tried playing the backed up save game from yesterday, but the problem persists and the cache folder remains empty when I close.
I am in no rush to uninstall because I'll have to download every expansion and stuff pack. The cache or lack of is not that important, as the only way to fix the auto-solve issue is to start another fresh game, and that really disappoints me. As I already noted I have no mods or CC that could bring about this chaos, and having to abandon that saved household renders the past year of gameplay as a complete waste... (angry again!) but I've paid for the game and also future content, so to continue playing the game I am going to have to start from the beginning.

Hi,
I can understand that you are angry but here in the bug forum it's about reporting a bug. Doing so has two purposes: Making the devs aware that there is a bug and the other is that other Simmers with the same issue actually find your thread and can post their experience as well. It's one thread per bug and one should be able to easily find it. You won't find a dev posting here. It's me trying to make sure everything is listed and compiled and help where I can.
Willing to share your save game ?
If so, please zip up this folder: documents\electronicarts\thesims4\saves, upload to mediafire or dropbox and PM me the link.- 10 years ago
hi, ok i wanted to report a few things i learned from the officials:
first the cache folder i believe will only generate files when you use the gallery and this requires doing more then launching gallery so it makes sense you have files in the cache after using gallery. it seems the patch must have purged all of our cache files and using the gallery shoudl create new temp files.
For the lot that keeps having issues another reported being able to fix the issue by doing the following:
1. saving the problem lot to the library
2. moving family to another lot temporarily
3. then replacing the problem lot with its version from the library
4. move back family
hopefully this is helpful.

This is a strange one. I haven't had the lack of freewill in any of my households but the auto solve for energy is broken on about 80% of my Sims. As of writing this I haven't been home and had a chance to install the latest update/patch so I am eager to find out if it helps. I also don't know if the auto solve for fun button is broken as I hardly ever click to auto solve fun. I generally prefer to specifically direct them to do something fun since when I give them a choice or leave them unattended with a low fun they almost always "Troll teh Forums" if there's a computer or tablet lying around. (Murphy's Law says if I ever WANTED a Sim to be maxed out on mischief skill they would probably never autonomously troll teh forums).
So for me:
Full Autonomy: PASS
Autosolve Energy: FAIL
Autosolve Fun: Unknown
Will check tonight when I get home and see if today's patch/update changes things.

The free will do seem to be working again and they will go do things other than taking care of the first three base needs. I would however say that there's definitely still a problem with the system. There's a significant pause after one action before they go off to do something. Testing with my family with five sims (two parents and three teenagers) it looks a bit like it can only manage to assign a task to one sim at a time. One sim will, fx make drinks and then stand around. Then all the others will go do something one at a time, and then the sim at the bar will go off to do something. And I would like to point out that it will not make my teenagers do their homework by themselves no matter how much time passes. Not sure if that's a trait thing or a result of them being A students, but pretty sure they used to do their homework on their own - at least some of the time.
The game is workable now, but definitely much slower at assigning tasks than it used to be - it reminds me of when I turned free will to minimum in Sims 3. My suspicion is that the threads either lose sync or something else is broken, which makes the free will fail to function - because it does work, just not as well as it used to.
EDIT: Auto-resolving fun is still a problem. Had a bored sim standing around doing nothing, clicked on the icon fun and got no response. Then she went to watched TV after a few seconds, so not sure if it's the auto-resolve or the free will that made her watch TV. They do still do whatever they're told (for the most part) when giving them a specific command, except it still likes to time out at times where I don't understand why (can't tell if that's by design or a bug).
