Batuu is an awesome destination for those who want to enjoy something fun and different, but if you bought a Droid from the Droid Depot and never saw it in your inventory, I know how frustrating it can be. Never fear, the Droids you were looking for will appear now in Inventories when purchased.

Same issue here. Had a droid but it didn't register for the achievement so I deleted it so I could buy a new one, mistakenly thinking the glitch was caused by already having a droid. Now I have no droid and can't complete the actual mission which requires a droid or the achievement. So frustrating, was actually enjoying the gameplay for the first time ever, usually just build tbh. Now I know why

Thank you for the aspiration milestone cheat workaround, which at least will allow me to progress my Resistance aspiration on Batuu.
I am playing a second generation Sim, whose parents were my original Batuu explorer, but Mom-Dad's Hand-Me-Down Droid, while serviceable, is not the same as getting my Sim his own, building relationship, and working through upgrades (he still has Handiness to improve for another aspiration).
I have acquired droids without incident in the past, but do hope this is fixed so that my Sims exploring the Galaxy Far, Far Away can have their customized, robot backup.
Im having the same exact problem it says to purchase 10 scrap and then pay 1000 once i do so it takes the scrap and money no droid select option no nothing. I can't even do the mission forest fight either. It only gives the option to practice splicing. It says analyzing is not available at this time. So my sim keeps getting electrocuted every time.
