[FIXED] [JTB] Missions don't get credited

Absolutely the same issue here - with almost full SuperSim moved out in a new game save. Game repaired 3 times.I even started the game without the JTB pack, then enabled it and the issue is present again. (no kits, no Paranormal or Dream Home, no mods and no CC). 

What happens in my new-save-game with this sim: 

First mission is every time a Resistance mission as part of the 'Hope vs Order' aspiration. Always talking to Vi Morandi first (as she is pretty much the only one available when I go to Resistance hideout). Then the second Sim that shows up gives the mission (Leap of Faith) via Ignite the spark. No indication icon above their head is showing up (I had to click all the sims to see who was the one giving missions). Mission complete (work tasks) and stays yellow, Report back is disabled on all Resistance contacts.

What I did:

Started New game, new sim. Went directly to Batuu - absolutely the same steps as above. As soon as I completed the tasks, before reporting back I got a selection screen - who will I support Resistance or First order. This has not happened with my SuperSim. That choice never showed up before.

Aspiration tier completed and next one loaded up. Went to Resistance hideout to report. My 'mission 'sim' had an Icon above their head 🙂 Successfully reported back, mission completed, credits awarded, item received in inventory.

What I thought of:

The only difference for the Super Sim related to JTB is that their father was actually the quest giver for the resistance. Nonetheless I added him to my household hoping that he will drop that role as soon as he is 'actively played' Sim, not a random NPC. Eventually my Super Sim was spawned 😉 I suspect that having a former-JTB NPC in the household might have broken the JTB chain for my sim.

What I decided to do next:

So I went to the save where the SuperSim was still living with his parents. (6Gen family, GrandMommaSim had 0 troubles completing JTB everything, so it is a fairly recent update) To my surprise daddy no longer had a JTB chat option (though I have not touched that save). So went to Batuu, bought some food went to change outfit, blue screen started loading CAS ... and then I got back into the Black Spire Outpost (never made it to CAS)  The sim I travelled with went 100% unselectable, but when I unpaused he started moving around. He only had the tiny house icon with * 'Go to the Cantina'. He did not go to the Cantina - he was in there already. So I switched to another household member and then switched back to my Sim. Aspiration was no longer applied (he got a new one). Aspiration was marked as completed (had a star), but the Sim did not had the trait 'A Gift of Credit' for completing it. Welcome to Batuu 'work' tasks were no longer there. He got completely reset on his JTB tasks and aspiration.

So I completed the Aspiration again. Went to say 'Sul Sul' to Vi Morandi and Rey was there with the Resistance icon glowing over her head. Of course he said 'Sul Sul' to Rey  (he is a Super Sim and very polite). Got the mission, got the tasks. Off to the First district order to check out their ship and crates. Mission completed, pop-up asked me who I want to support. Met with the NPC to report to 'Sul' Sul', haven't even reported back yet and Aspiration was complete thus unlocking the other 2 aspirations. But no Trait was awarded to my sim.

So I Reported back (it was enabled this time). And Reported back. And ... multiple times. Task was complete - mission - not.

Where am I right now:

Still stuck.

So I tested again with a brand new sim, went through childhood to get the traits. No issues at first - went to Battu, everything went fine with the first mission. Unlocked the two aspirations and when I completed mission 'Risks and Rewards' (Disrupt First Order transmissions) the bug happened again. 'Report back' was active and the Sim who previously had the resistance Icon over their head no longer had that indication. I reported back, mission tasks complete, mission - stuck. 'Report back' is now permanently disabled again.
I tried also to purchase droid and I lost the 1000 credits I had + 10 scrap metal - selection never loaded to make the droid. Sim enters the shop, but nothing happens.
Might be the mission itself causing this bug - just not sure what it is looking for except the tasks in order to break like that.

Apparently if you do not see the Resistance Icon over the NPC head - you have this bug now active.

Where am I right now:

Reinstalling the game without JTB.

Ran into this issue myself just yesterday and came here.

For me it's also with a super-sim, and after reading this thread I decided to do some testing of my own.

This is one elusive bug!

I had a save with different sims I made to test another bug, so I took one of them for a spin.

Here are my steps:

1) Tried giving all skills - no bug.

2) Tried adding all the aspirations my original sim had - still no bug.

3) Tried maxing out all careers (neglecting the second branches) and all degrees (distinguished with honors) - bug encountered.

4) Tried with just the degrees - bug still present.

5) Tried selectively removing degrees - Fine Arts degree causes bug for test sim.

And Finally:

6) Tried removing the Fine Arts degree for my original sim - bug still here... !@#$%

7) Tried removing all degrees for my original sim - still buggy

So obviously, the many accomplishments of super-sims have something to do with this bug, but this isn't straight forward as specific skills, aspirations, degrees, traits, etc...

I suspect some data is being run-over.

I may do more testing - will report if I have something new to share.

Could this be another hint that this bug is related to a clash between the University pack and Batuu?

When I wasn't able to re-create the bug with aspirations and skills, I thought it might have something to do with the missions sharing the career panel.

But maybe there are actually shared variables with the university pack instead?

Although I wasn't able to apply the "workaround" from my test sim on my original sim, I did use cheats to get those degrees for my test sim. It is possible the cheats don't replicate certain aspect of getting the degrees through normal gameplay.

Or perhaps its only part of the issue, and the other is actually the second career branches I didn't take with my test sim?

I neglected to mention one thing which doesn't seem to be addressed in this thread (unless I missed it):

While the thread seem to specifically discuss the Resistance/Order/Scoundrels missions, this actually starts earlier with the "Welcome to Batuu" mission.

When there is no bug, after asking about the Resistance, Order and Scoundrels 3 times, the sim should be credited and all 3 checked tasks should be cleared from the mission (career) panel. When the bug hits, the checked tasks stay there and no credit is given.

It's easy to overlook this because the bug doesn't prevent getting a Resistance mission. It's only when you can't progress that you realize there's something wrong. (At least, that's when I noticed, as this was my first time in Batuu)

When I ran my tests I didn't bother going beyond "Welcome to Batuu" once I realized the mission panel should be cleared when the mission is over.

I am having the same issue as well.  I wouldn't quite say I have a SuperSim...she's got one skill to level 10 (violin) and maxed photography at lvl 5.  However, she does have a university degree.  

I did notice the "Welcome to Batuu" mission never resolved, and I also cannot "Report Back" for the "Leap of Faith" mission.

Based on the fact this isn't a resolved bug and there's no work around, looks like I'll just send her back home and hopefully she can progress her life normally, keeping in mind that if one is going to do Batuu a relatively new Sim is required.

@MetaSuperficial She's level 8 of the Entertainer career "Symphonic String Player" -- She has a "Fine Arts" degree from Foxbury (not distinguished) -- Working on the Renaissance Sim aspiration; on the last stage -- Also has two points of fame.

I've done more testing:

1) Removed the entire Sims 4 user data folder (the one inside Documents on PC)

2) Created a brand new sim - so no skills, no aspirations, no careers. I did give him some likes (probably shouldn't have, but this didn't seem to make any difference, at least not with what I gave him)

3) Went straight to Batuu.

4) Tried giving him each of the 4 versions of the Fine Arts degree.

5) All 4 versions triggered the bug. Other degrees did not.

So it seems that the Fine Arts degree might be one way to reproduce this bug, but from my own original super-sim, as well as the reports from @Why_Bunny and @KristenLDD it's clear that is not the only trigger. My super-sim does have the Fine Arts degree, but removing it with cheats before Batuu doesn't clear the bug. I did try removing the degree with my test sims, and for them it did work.

I do have the latest version of the game, and I haven't tried Batuu before the last update.

@crinrict, or anyone else, if you have the time and feel like trying again to reproduce the bug with the Fine Arts degree, it will at least confirm that this trigger isn't local to my installation.

@Why_Bunny, I will look into the likes/dislikes system. It might contain another trigger for this bug, which would explain why my super-sim still had the bug after I removed her fine arts degree. Update: tried removing her Fine Arts degree and likes/dislikes - bug still here.

I doubt there is relation to University as the second test I did was with a sim that never ever had a single interaction related to University (had not even applied for scholarship).

My thoughts are toward the actual JTB missions which look up to the Sim history and traits. If there was ever a sim in their history that completed a JTB aspiration - this is not resettable and the missions crash (at least this is my current assumption).

Don't think this is related to any other pack, but to how the JTB progression is not adjusted to several generations or something that is copied over with a 'legacy sim' that has been played before. The reason is that I actually tested this with a sim with 0 University interactions.

I am thinking that JTB is missing some basic concepts that Strangerville has. In Strangerville you can defeat the Mother Plant and it stays defeated in that save until you explicitly restart it as a quest. In JTB it seems the 'quest' line is much more fixed and not transferrable which cause the issues we face (once you give Resistance or the FO the 'win' that sim gets broken). 

@niamaimezaadi, your findings reveal that the multiple triggers for this bug are probably independent from each other.

I am still pretty certain that any Fine Arts degree is a trigger, as I was able to get the bug with it on a blank sim, and avoid the bug by removing the degree (I only have a tiny shadow of a doubt because nobody else tried to reproduce this yet, and while I could re-install the game, I'd rather spare myself the hassle at the moment).

I also know Fine Arts is not the only trigger because my super-sim still has the bug when I remove her degree.

Could it be that previous JTB interactions with other sims on the same save trigger it?

It could be, BUT this is not the case for any of my sims - I didn't play JTB with any of them prior to encountering the bug. When I tested with my super-sim, I went back to a pre-JTB save. The result was the same. Still can't get passed the bug.

For my next tests, I will try removing all my super-sim's traits (I have already tried removing her "natal" traits - Cheerful, Childish, Creative, and of-course the Fine Arts degree). Don't think I can actually remove her completed aspirations and careers, but I can try and go back to earlier saves, I suppose. I will also try moving her out to a new location, with her family.

I will also try to send my supporting sims from that save to Batuu. They are not super-sims and do not have any degrees. If they have the bug as well, this would hint that possibly one of the triggers carries over the entire game play from the interactions of a single sim. Update: tried a sim from my super-sim's household - no bug.

Another possible route - you mentioned Strangerville: my super-sim has completed the Strangerville aspiration - did any of your test sims? Update: tried playing through the Strangerville aspiration with another sim. It didn't trigger the bug.

A tiny bit of progress - I was finally able to get my original super-sim to clear the bug!

I removed her Fine Arts degree (the only certain trigger for now), most of her traits except her "natal" traits (couldn't remove Sickness Resistance and Treasure Hunter - the cheats listed everywhere for those don't work), her likes/dislikes and also, she is a spellcaster, so I had her go through the rite of dissolution.

Now begins the long journey of figuring out which of the many traits I removed are triggers for this bug, as well as possibly the likes/dislikes.

I have found the second trigger - it is the Business Savvy trait that comes from choosing the Fortune Aspiration.

Like the Fine Arts degree, the Business Savvy trait is an independent trigger for this bug, so having either one of them is enough to cause this.

There may be other triggers, so if you have the bug but your sim doesn't have a Fine Arts degree or the Business Savvy trait, please report here.

If you want to try this for you sims:

1) Be sure to keep a separate save before you try this, just in case.

2) To remove the Fine Arts degree you will need to use one of the following, depending on the degree type you have (You can check this in the Simology panel) -

Traits.remove_Trait trait_University_FineArtDegreeBAHonors

Traits.remove_Trait trait_University_FineArtDegreeBA

Traits.remove_Trait trait_University_FineArtDegreeBSHonors

Traits.remove_Trait trait_University_FineArtDegreeBS

The first 2 are for the distinguished degree from Britechester, with or without honors, the latter 2 are for the Foxbury degree.

3) To remove the Business Savvy trait use:

Traits.Remove_Trait Trait_Business_Savvy

To reverse this, just replace "Remove" with "Equip".

If this doesn't work for you, or you simply don't have those two triggers, please let us all know. A list of your sim's traits can help figure out why.

While I've covered a significant portion of the traits, skills, aspirations when testing this, these two triggers don't seem to have anything in common, so there could be others.

I’ve been having this same issue and my Sim did have the business savvy trait. However, upon removing the trait I found that the issue was still persisting. Here’s a list of my Sim’s traits, careers, skills, etc. if that might help anyone narrow down what else could be a trigger:

High School A Student, Charisma Lv. 1, Comedy Lv. 1, Cooking Lv. 3, Dancing Lv. 1, Fitness Lv. 4, Handiness Lv. 1, Mischief Lv. 1, Mixology Lv. 2, Piano Lv. 2, Programming Lv. 2, Rocket Science Lv. 3, Singing Lv. 2, Snowboarding Lv. 2, Self-Absorbed, Active, Top-Notch Toddler, Ancient Bloodline (Is a spell caster), likes fitness, dislikes the color yellow, has a good reputation, and was business savvy due to fabulously wealthy aspiration before I removed both the trait and aspiration (new aspiration is hope vs. order).

I think that’s all the stuff that would be relevant. Besides the Top-Notch toddler trait, she’s hardly a super Sim like some people were discussing earlier. Hope this helps someone!

@lcomp12, does your Sim have a Fine Arts degree? (Thought I'd better check, as you didn't refer to this)

Regarding skills, my Sim had all of them maxed out (I don't have the Paranormal pack, so I can't check Medium skill), so unless there's some interaction with other factors, it's probably not the cause - they didn't affect the workaround.

As it so happens, my Sim is also a spellcaster and dislikes yellow, but those didn't affect the bug. She's not Ancient Bloodline, though.

I am not 100% sure, but as far as I recall, another Sim I tested with had her toddler and child skills maxed, and she didn't have the bug at all.

If your Sim doesn't have a Fine Arts degree, then my main course of investigation would be the Ancient Bloodline.

One more thing: just noticed -  you only mentioned 2 main traits - is your Sim a teen? Unless one of those traits triggers the bug, I guess I'd have to test with a teen too.

I can confirm I got the bug with a sim with Ancient Bloodline (no degrees at all) in the second attempt I did before uninstalling the pack.

Yes, my Sim is a teen, so no degree yet. I might do some fiddling around with traits and things on my own part to see if I can narrow down as well. Otherwise, thanks for continuing to investigate 🙂

@lcomp12, @niamaimezaadi just confirmed the suspicion - it is the Ancient Bloodline.

I will test this myself later, just cause I'm curious.

So now we have 3 independent triggers: Ancient Bloodline trait, Business Savvy trait and Fine Arts degree.

Will we have more?

Deleting the Ancient Bloodline cheat worked! I guess that means that my other traits aren’t problems 🙂

So I tried to reproduce the bug with the Ancient Bloodline trait. And it's not working.

At first I tried just by giving the Ancient Bloodline trait (via cheats), without turning my sim into a spellcaster.

Then I tried again, this time actually making him a spellcaster, again with cheats.

It is possible that this only triggers the bug, if a Sim receives Ancient Bloodline through actual gameplay, which is what I will try next.

Yes to Business Savvy trait; no to Ancient Bloodline or Fine Arts Degree.  (He has a Distinguished degree in Drama). 

Update: I used the cheat from @MetaSuperficial to remove the Business Savvy trait and tried again.  Still unable to get missions credited.
