[FIXED] NPC Households have same structure/name

    Fixed an issue that caused weighting for names, clothing, facial features, and skin tones to skew heavily in specific directions if City Living or Island Living were installed.


    Fixed in Patch 1.55.105

    This is now the second fix for this and the thread is getting a bit old

    If you're still having issues with NEW Sims (your existing ones won't be affected by the fix), please create a new thread.

What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Get Together, City Living, Seasons, Outdoor Retreat, Dine Out, Parenthood, Bowling Night Stuff
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Start a completely new game, and play so that some NPCs are generated to fill specific roles. I mean, not the households that are generated to fill empty homes; rather the single-sim homeless households that are generated to be maids, repairmen, bartenders, gym trainers, etc.
What happens when the bug occurs? These single-sim homeless houseolds are still overwhelmingly Asian, they mostly have City Living clothing on, and especially, they still mostly have Asian-sounding names.
What do you expect to see? According to the December 18th patch notes, these randomly generated sims should have a wider clothing range: "Randomly generated neighborhood Sims should no longer shop exclusively within the City Living and Vampires Create-a-Sim catalogs, and are more likely to have expanded their clothing opportunities to all packs you have available for them"
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

      Just did an acting gig for the first time and the game generated 20 new townies at the same time, so I got to take a look.

      I think the clothes have more variety, but the race archetypes seem still stuck on City Living names and racial features. There were an equal mix of Japanese, Indian and Moroccan named sims, but only one sim with a plain “Western” name and he still looked Asian anyway.

      The game seems to be missing Caucasian, African and Latin from the NPC archetypes list when generating new townies.

      EDIT: I’m not talking about new saves here - this behaviour manifests in really well established games where the entire world is full already. I believe in new games the game will use non-City Living archetypes to fill houses based on varied structures like families of four, odd couples, groups of housemates, pets and owners etc., so you wouldn’t notice any lack of diversity at the start.

      But in a game with every house filled and every job having plenty of sims in them, you start to notice the lack of new Caucasian, African and Latin sims whenever the game generates a new NPC in just a single sim household.

        Hey, some input from OP here since the latest patch. Yes, I am actually the OP. Some complications with my old account have completely locked me out of it. At the suggestion of EA Support, I've made a new one. Anyways, even though I do see CL, Vampires, and Caribbean clothing on randomly-generated townies less often than I did before, it still appears on them pretty frequently, still more so than any other clothes. And on top of that, they all still look the same. The game still insists on constantly generating pale-skinned red/blonde-haired Sims with Japanese names and dark-skinned red/blonde-haired Sims with Middle Eastern names.
