CRINRICT, I checked. This happens when the Sim goes to work. He is still at home and active, but the lunch bag cannot be put in inventory. At other times, the lunch bag can be moved to inventory without error.
@crinrict I was wrong. The error appeared at other times as well. After restarting the game, it was not there, and then it appeared again.

It is July 24th, 2022 and I am still having this issue. I play on the Xbox One, so no mods. It happens in game saves where I do and don't use cheats. I've tried changing fridges. I've used dragging the lunch sack, choosing "put in inventory", and even "put away". "Put away" used to get it back in the fridge and then I could choose "put in inventory" from there so that's how I've been dealing with it. Now the only way I can get rid of the floating sack is to go to build mode and sledgehammer it. For now I'm just going to have to make sure they have time to eat breakfast. Unfortunate because I enjoyed getting to pack their lunches prior to this bug. If this info is helpful at all, I have all packs installed except Journey to batuu, campfire, romantic garden, and any kit after the first three to be released.
(so going to buy high school years when it releases Thursday!!!)

What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Every one except Home Decorator, Jungle, ECO life along with not owning any of the kits aside from bust the dust.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Make a sack lunch and try to have your sim put it into their inventory prior to going to work or school.
What happens when the bug occurs? The lunch bag gets stuck mid air lol can’t put it in inventory or fridge have to make sim eat lunch to go away
What do you expect to see? Lunch bag should go into sims inventory the way it’s supposed to.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? On console - never used.

Yes I’m also having this glitch happen with the lunch sack it’s been like this for me since April, however glad to see I’m not alone at least lol. I play on PS5 so it’s definitely on EA’s end hopefully they’ll fix it with this upcoming patch prior to HS years being released
