Hello, I am playing Sims 4 on PS4 and trying to catch up after losing 10+ days dealing with frequent game crashing associated with the Reaper's Rewards Event.
Game crashed right before claiming earned Reaper's Rewards, so I had to replay most of Week 1. Now I am back on Week 2 and I have encountered a new frustrating issue.
However, I *was able to solve* the Ambrosia Society Newsletter issue on this PS4, so I will detail what I did. Hopefully these issues will not reappear in the game like something out of a horror movie.
1. I conducted troubleshooting and deleted everything *except* User Data. I am on PS4, so I was able to reload my Autosave, Save Data, and my Library from September before this system had any crases or corruption. (Only necessary if game crashed, wouldn't load, etc.)
2. I restarted my Household and House/Lot and REMOVED the Mold Lot Challenge (which along with Off-the-Grid, may have caused game to crash during Reaper's Event).
3. I had to replay everything in the Reaper's Rewards Event that I did not claim yet before the game crashed. The Ambrosia Society Newsletter was missing. I had already played through this part before the game crashed, but I guess I didn't Claim Rewards for it or it didn't register. It said that I had already received the Newsletter, but it wasn't in anyone's inventory. I couldn't progress the Event until...
4. I replaced the Old Rusty mailbox with specifically the *Willow Creek version*, deleted the old one and the mail carrier showed up immediately like a pop-up and delivered the Ambrosia Society Newsletter! What a relief! Considering how many times my game crashed in the last 10 days, I certainly hope that this is resolved! Hopefully this will help other Sims 4 players!
Now, I am facing *a scary new glitch that needs attention*!
This one has not crashed the game so far, but it potentially hinders progress on the Reaper's Rewards and regular gameplay and needs to be fixed or patched out.
The issue is Missing Skill Bars and Skill Progression. A teen Sim (who likes Handiness) studied it over and over again with no skill bar progression. No Handiness bar or Skill Bar appears above his head. This is a glitch that I have seen before (not with Handiness specifically or with teens, but with characters not being able to learn a skill and/or the skill bar not appearing) on my brother's PS4, but this is the first time it happened on this system (also a PS4, but his is an older system).
Note: My brother's Sims game had a similar glitch two different times for about a week, in 2020 (possibly) and/or 2021 (definitely at least one week in 2021). A patch solved it.
Is there a way to fix or reset this issue or a workaround for it? Does turning the game off and reloading it solve this one?
I am concerned about starting a new save because I want to keep the Reaper's Rewards Event progress that I have.
This glitch was triggered by sending a Sim (teen) to the bookshelf to read a Handiness book. There were probably 2 Handiness books in the house and 2 bookshelves. Both Handiness books were on the same bookshelf when one was selected and he began reading. (Everything was breaking in the house!)
I am concerned about ability to level up Cooking, Gardening, Fishing, and Gourmet Cooking, etc. for the Grim Reaper's Rewards Event challenges.
Also, does that mean I have to delete this household or even this save file and start again?
Additional context: my game crashed about 5 times since the Reaper's Rewards Event. It is finally somewhat stable. I performed the troubleshooting, deleted all save files and Library, except for the User Data. I reloaded my save files and Library from September (before the crashing/corruption started), updated a house and saved it *without* the Mold Lot Challenge which was causing issues.
